Uniqueness of entropy solutions to nonlinear elliptic-parabolic problems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2007
We study the Cauchy problem associated with the nonlinear elliptic - parabolic equation $$ b(u)_{t}-a(u,varphi(u)_x)_x=f. $$ We prove an $L^{1}$-contraction principle and hence the uniqueness of entropy solutions, under rather general assumptions ...

Weak vorticity formulation for the incompressible Euler equations in domains with boundary

open access: yes, 2013
In this article we examine the interaction of incompressible 2D flows with compact material boundaries. Our focus is the dynamic behavior of the circulation of velocity around boundary components and the possible exchange between flow vorticity and ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

A quasistatic electro-elastic contact problem with normal compliance, friction and adhesion

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2014
In this article we consider a mathematical model which describes the contact between a piezoelectric body and a deformable foundation. The constitutive law is assumed linear electro-elastic and the process is quasistatic.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Uniqueness of weak solution for nonlinear elliptic equations in divergence form

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2000
We study the uniqueness of weak solutions for quasilinear elliptic equations in divergence form. Some counterexamples are given to show that our uniqueness result cannot be improved in the general case.
