A Study of Wear Behavior in Martensitic Stainless Steel Subjected to Repetitive Impact Loads

open access: yesTribology Online
Impact wear (repetitive impact-induced wear) has been identified as a significant issue in various engineering components, such as valves, electrical contacts, and pumps.

Investigation on influence of SiCp on three-body abrasive wear behaviour of glass/epoxy composites

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2021
The study presents the influence of SiCp incorporation on three-body abrasive wear behaviour of glass/epoxy composites. The investigation was carried out using dry sand rubber wheel abrasive wear test apparatus.

Wear and friction of TiAlN/VN coatings against Al2O3 in air at room and elevated temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
TiAlN/VN multilayer coatings exhibit excellent dry sliding wear resistance and low friction coefficient, reported to be associated with the formation of self-lubricating V2O5.

Sustainable Development of Cissus Quadrangularis Stem Fiber/epoxy Composite on Abrasive Wear Rate

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2022
Natural fibers have the potential to replace artificial fibers in structural applications. The abrasive wear performance of natural fiber–reinforced polymer composite has not been investigated in many studies.

Augmentation of the mechanical and chemical resistance characteristics of an Al2O3-based refractory by means of high power diode laser surface treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Augmentation of the wear rate and wear life characteristics of an Al2O3-based refractory within both normal and corrosive (NaOH and HNO3) environmental conditions was effected by means of high power diode laser (HPDL) surface treatment.

An Investigation into the Behavior of Disc Blake Wear

open access: yesAl-Khawarizmi Engineering Journal, 2007
A real method of predication brake pad wear ,could lead to substantiol economies of time and money. This paper describes how such a procedure has been used and gives the results to establish is reliability by comparing the predicted wear with that which ...

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Analysis of Dry Sliding Wear Behaviour of Aluminium-Fly Ash Composites: The Taguchi Approach

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2013
Dry sliding wear test was conducted on Al-fly ash composites employing pin-on-disc wear testing rig. The influence of parameters such as weight percentage of fly ash, load, and sliding speed on the wear rate of specimens was investigated.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
