Remote Monitoring in Myasthenia Gravis: Exploring Symptom Variability

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare, autoimmune disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness and potential life‐threatening crises. While continuous specialized care is essential, access barriers often delay timely interventions. To address this, we developed MyaLink, a telemedical platform for MG patients.

A Study of the Wear Behavior of a Rail Material [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Railway Research, 2021
The rail track is one of the most important elements of a railway system. During the passage of trains, the rails are subjected to contact load that comes from the wheels of the train.

Study of Jatropha curcas Linn and Olea europaea as Bio-Oil Lubricant to Physical Properties and Wear Rate

open access: yesLubricants, 2021
This paper presents a study on the effect of the mixed volume fraction of Jatropha curcas Oil (JCO) and Olea europea or extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) on the physical properties of the oil, especially viscosity, density and water content.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Effect of work-rate on synergy of corrosion and wear of nickel-based 690 alloys under fretting conditions

open access: yesResults in Engineering
The heat exchange tubes in the secondary steam generator of pressurized water reactor vibrate due to the impact of fluid, which results in collision leading to fretting wear. The work-rate can characterize random vibrations over time.

Tool wear mechanism in up-cut end milling of AISI 1050 at different feed rates

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2020
In this study, the tool wear mechanism of a TiN coated carbide insert in up-cut end milling of AISI 1050 at different feed rates, was investigated. The diameter of the end mill holder that was used was 35 mm. The edge roundness of the used cutting insert

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Dry Sliding Wear Behavior of Super Duplex Stainless Steel AISI 2507: a Statistical Approach

open access: yesArchives of Foundry Engineering, 2016
The dry sliding wear behavior of heat-treated super duplex stainless steel AISI 2507 was examined by taking pin-on-disc type of wear-test rig. Independent parameters, namely applied load, sliding distance, and sliding speed, influence mainly the wear ...

Validity of a Wearable Digital Insole for Assessing Gait ON and OFF in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Gait impairment is a distinctive symptom of Parkinson's disease that negatively impact mobility. We assessed the validity of wearable digital insoles against a validated reference gait analysis system for measuring select gait characteristics in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods A comparative analysis between digital insoles

Prediction of Wear Rate by a New Direct Method Using the Friction Coefficient Curve

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing
This work aims to introduce a new method to predict the wear rate accurately and quickly. Using techniques such as laser scanning confocal microscopy can take a long time to estimate the wear of the experimental alloys in situ.
