Optimal bounds for the weighted geometric mean of the first Seiffert and logarithmic means by weighted generalized Heronian mean are proved. We answer the question: for what the greatest value and the least value such that the double inequality ...

New Weighted Mean-Based Patterns for Texture Analysis and Classification
This paper presents anovel method for texture classification and biometric authentication based on a descriptor called the weighted mean-based patterns (WEM). The proposed descriptor has been developed for extracting texture features from a large dataset

Weighted extended mean values [PDF]
Summary: The author generalizes Stolarsky's Extended Mean Values to a four-parameter family of means \(F(r,s;a,b;x,y)=E(r,s;ax,by)/E(r,s;a,b)\) and investigates their monotonicity properties.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Spectral densities of scale-free networks
The spectral densities of the weighted Laplacian, random walk and weighted adjacency matrices associated with a random complex network are studied using the replica method. The link weights are parametrized by a weight exponent $\beta$.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Rates of convergence in adaptive universal vector quantization [PDF]
We consider the problem of adaptive universal quantization. By adaptive quantization we mean quantization for which the delay associated with encoding the jth sample in a sequence of length n is bounded for all n>j.

Statistics of the fractional polarisation of compact radio sources in Planck maps
In this work we apply the stacking technique to estimate the average fractional polarisation from 30 to 353 GHz of a primary sample of 1560 compact sources - essentially all radio sources - detected in the 30 GHz Planck all-sky map and listed in the ...
