Bayesian modelling and quantification of Raman spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Raman spectroscopy can be used to identify molecules such as DNA by the characteristic scattering of light from a laser. It is sensitive at very low concentrations and can accurately quantify the amount of a given molecule in a sample.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Establishment of a platform imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) characterization method for adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsid proteins

open access: yesGreen Analytical Chemistry, 2022
Herein we describe a platform method to study the charge heterogeneity of adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsid proteins. The method, based on imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) with native fluorescence imaging detection, was validated, and can ...

Analytical study of electrostatic ion beam traps

open access: yes, 2010
The use of electrostatic ion beam traps require to set many potentials on the electrodes (ten in our case), making the tuning much more difficult than with quadrupole traps.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
