COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Observation of sulphate aerosols and SO2 from volcanic eruptions using data from the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Infrared spectra measured by the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment Fourier Transform Spectrometer (ACE-FTS) on board of the SCISAT satellite were used to analyse the temporal and spatial evolution of volcanic aerosols from the Kasatochi (August 2008 ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Development and application of spray-capillary, a novel device for microsampling, and online capillary zone electrophoresis mass spectrometry analysis on nanoscale omics study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The capillary zone electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (CZE-MS) platform, a well-developed analytical methodology, has been widely used for high-throughput nanoscale (e.g., < 5000 cells, single-cell sample) bioanalysis (e.g., proteomics and metabolomics ...

ESR1 methylation and ESR1 mutations in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and paired plasma‐cfDNA of advanced breast cancer patients: A feasibility proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...

A sustainable RP-HPLC method for simultaneously estimating aceclofenac, paracetamol, and serratiopeptidase with AQbD optimization

open access: yesGreen Analytical Chemistry
This study focused on developing and validating a novel method for the simultaneous estimation of aceclofenac (AFC), paracetamol (PCM), and serratiopeptidase (SPD) using reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC).

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Greener microvolume UV–Vis and synchrotron radiation circular dichroism workflows for pathlength correction, and pipetting validation and quantified uncertainty for reliable analytical outcomes

open access: yesGreen Analytical Chemistry
Microvolume UV–Vis and synchrotron radiation circular dichroism (SRCD) offer clear sustainability benefits by reducing sample and reagent consumption, yet their adoption is often limited by concerns over optical pathlength variability and low-volume ...
