Comparative Genomic and Pan-Genomic Characterization of Staphylococcus epidermidis From Different Sources Unveils the Molecular Basis and Potential Biomarkers of Pathogenic Strains

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus (CoNS) is the most common pathogen causing traumatic endophthalmitis. Among which, Staphylococcus epidermidis is the most common species that colonizes human skin, eye surfaces, and nasal cavity.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Novel approach for deriving genome wide SNP analysis data from archived blood spots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: The ability to transport and store DNA at room temperature in low volumes has the advantage of optimising cost, time and storage space.

Genomics analysis of the steroid estrogen-degrading bacterium Serratia nematodiphila DH-S01

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2020
At present, the oestrogens detected in the environment have been classified as group 1 carcinogens by the World Health Organization. They have obvious effects on organisms at extremely low environmental concentration (1.0 ng/L) and easily accumulate in ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Heat-Induced Fragmentation and Adapter-Assisted Whole Genome Amplification Using GenomePlex® Single-Cell Whole Genome Amplification Kit (WGA4)

open access: yes, 2015
Whole genome amplification (WGA) is a widely used technique allowing multiplying picogram amounts of target DNA by several orders of magnitude. The technique described here is based on heat-induced random fragmentation yielding DNA strands mainly ranging

Genome U-Plot: a whole genome visualization [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2017
Abstract Motivation The ability to produce and analyze whole genome sequencing (WGS) data from samples with structural variations (SV) generated the need to visualize such abnormalities in simplified plots.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Whole Genome Amplification of Labeled Viable Single Cells Suited for Array-Comparative Genomic Hybridization

open access: yes, 2015
Understanding details of a complex biological system makes it necessary to dismantle it down to its components. Immunostaining techniques allow identification of several distinct cell types thereby giving an inside view of intercellular heterogeneity ...

Pig genome sequence - analysis and publication strategy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background The pig genome is being sequenced and characterised under the auspices of the Swine Genome Sequencing Consortium. The sequencing strategy followed a hybrid approach combining hierarchical shotgun sequencing of BAC clones and whole genome ...
