Natural Biomaterials for Osteochondral Repair: From Source to Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Biological origin‐guided overview of natural biomaterials and therapeutic strategies for osteochondral tissue engineering. The circular diagram categorizes representative materials and strategies into plant/algae‐derived, microbial‐derived, animal‐derived, and human‐derived sources, centered on an osteochondral defect repair model.

Aberrant Wnt signaling in multiple myeloma: molecular mechanisms and targeting options

open access: yesLeukemia, 2019
Aberrant activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling plays a central role in the pathogenesis of a wide variety of malignancies and is typically caused by mutations in core Wnt pathway components driving constitutive, ligand-independent signaling.

Chromosomal Instability Drives Glioblastoma Heterogeneity and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glioblastoma, the most aggressive and lethal form of brain cancer, is defined by profound genomic instability, with Chromosomal Instability (CIN) playing a central role in driving tumor progression, therapy resistance, and poor prognosis. CIN is characterized by numerical and structural alterations, is driven by mechanisms such as mitotic ...

p53 and microRNA-34 are suppressors of canonical Wnt signaling

open access: yes, 2011
Although loss of p53 function and activation of canonical Wnt signaling cascades are frequently coupled in cancer, the links between these two pathways remain unclear.

Frizzled Proteins are bona fide G Protein-Coupled Receptors

open access: yes, 2009
Receptors of the Frizzled family initiate Wnt ligand-dependent signaling controlling multiple steps in organism development and highly conserved in evolution. Misactivation of the Wnt/Frizzled signaling is cancerogenic.

Interventions in WNT Signaling to Induce Cardiomyocyte Proliferation:Crosstalk with Other Pathways

open access: yes, 2020
Myocardial infarction is a frequent cardiovascular event and a major cause for cardiomyocyte loss. In adult mammals, cardiomyocytes are traditionally considered to be terminally differentiated cells, unable to proliferate.

GPR124 Alleviates Blood–Brain Barrier Disruption by Enhancing Microvascular Endothelial Function after Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study reveals the protective role of GPR124 in maintaining BBB integrity and promoting neurological recovery following TBI. It makes a significant contribution by uncovering a novel molecular interaction between GPR124 and FGFBP1 and linking this to activation of the Wnt/β‐catenin signaling pathway in vascular repair mechanisms.

Wnt signaling pathway in retinal vascularization

open access: yes, 2016
Kimberly A Drenser Associated Retinal Consultants, Royal Oak, MI, USA Abstract: Wnt-signaling, a ubiquitous pathway that directs differentiation, cell polarity, and tissue specificity, has been implicated as an important gene-expression pathway in ...

Integration of SHH and WNT pathways controls morphogenesis of the CNS. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
[eng] Dorsoventral patterning of the vertebrate nervous system is achieved by the combined activity of morphogenetic signals secreted from dorsal and ventral signalling centres. The Shh/Gli pathway plays a major role in patterning the ventral neural tube;

Silencing mutated β-catenin inhibits cell proliferation and stimulates apoptosis in the adrenocortical cancer cell line H295R [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and highly aggressive endocrine neoplasm, with limited therapeutic options. Activating β-catenin somatic mutations are found in ACC and have been associated with a poor clinical outcome. In fact, activation of the
