E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Fall back accretion and energy injections in gamma-ray bursts

open access: yes, 2014
Intense flares that occur at late times relative to the prompt phase have been observed by the $Swift$ satellite in the X-ray afterglows of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs).

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

EFEITO DO DIOXIDO DE CARBONO SOBRE A ESTABILIDADE DA FASE Ca2Fe2O5 APLICADA NO PROCESSO DE DEGRADAÇÃO FOTOCATALITICO DO AZUL DE METILENO

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2015
Solid samples containing a Ca2Fe2O5 phase were synthesized using the Pechini method. The samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, differential thermal analysis, X-ray fluorescence, nitrogen adsorption/desorption ...

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. A Phase-resolved View of Millihertz Quasiperiodic Oscillations in the Ultraluminous X-Ray Source M51 ULX-7: Evidence for a Magnetically Truncated Disk and Geometrical Beaming

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
X-ray quasiperiodic oscillations (QPOs) are commonly observed in Galactic X-ray binaries and extragalactic ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs). In this study, we perform a phase-resolved analysis of recently discovered X-ray mHz QPOs in M51 ULX-7.

Timing Analysis of Black Hole X-Ray Binaries with Insight-HXMT

open access: yesGalaxies
The Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), China’s first X-ray astronomy satellite, has significantly contributed to the study of fast variability in black hole X-ray binaries through its broad energy coverage (1–250 keV), high timing resolution, and ...

Detection of X-ray periodicity from a new eclipsing polar candidate XGPS-I J183251-100106

open access: yes, 2012
We report the results from a detailed analysis of an archival XMM-Newton observation of the X-ray source XGPS-I J183251-100106, which has been suggested as a promising magnetic cataclysmic variable candidate based on its optical properties.
