Deep ROSAT Surveys & the contribution of AGNs to the soft X-ray background [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The ROSAT Deep Surveys in the Lockman Hole have revealed that AGNs are the main contributors (~75%) to the soft X-ray background in the 1–2 keV band. Using new optical/infrared and radio observations we have obtained a nearly complete identification (93%)

Chandra X-Ray Observatory Observations of 13 Fermi LAT Sources

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In the latest data release from the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope (the 4th Fermi LAT 14 yr Catalog, or 4FGL), more than 50% of the Galactic sources are yet to be identified.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Measuring the Cosmic X-Ray Background in 3–20 KeV with Stray Light from NuSTAR

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
By characterizing the contribution of stray light to large data sets from the CXB Measurement X-ray observatory collected over 2012–2017, we report a measurement of the cosmic X-ray background (CXB) in the 3–20 keV energy range. These data represent ∼20%

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

X-ray Cluster Cosmology

open access: yes
Formation of dark matter halos is sensitive to the expansion rate of the Universe and to the growth of structures under gravitational collapse. Virialization of halos heats the gaseous intra-cluster medium to high temperatures, leading to copious ...

X-ray surveys of the Magellanic Clouds - From XMM-Newton to eROSITA

open access: yes, 2019
The XMM-Newton surveys of the Magellanic Clouds represent the most complete and deepest X-ray surveys of these nearby star-forming galaxies today. This allows us to investigate their X-ray source populations in unprecedented detail.

The 157 Month Swift/BAT All-sky Hard X-Ray Survey

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) on board the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory has been serving as a survey instrument for the hard X-ray sky, and has detected thousands of X-ray sources (e.g., active galactic nuclei, X-ray binaries, etc).

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.
