Enhancing the d–Electrocatalytic Activity of MXene Through Defect Engineering

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Applications of MXene. ABSTRACT Due to their versatile and tunable surface and bulk chemistry, MXenes have great potential as electrocatalysts for batteries and supercapacitors. When compared with other electrocatalytic processes, in electrocatalytic reactions, MXenes could improve ion diffusion and charge transfer by either providing functional groups

Recent Strategies Toward Durable and Ion‐Tolerant Transition Metal‐Based Electrocatalysts in Seawater Electrolysis

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Recent strategies address these challenges through ion‐specific regulation, encompassing chloride‐tolerant and chloride‐regulating anodes together with cathode designs that suppress OH− accumulation and Mg2+/Ca2+ coupling. This ion‐management‐oriented framework provides general guidelines for achieving stable, selective, and scalable seawater ...

Interfacial Ru–O–W Orbital Coupling Enables Lattice Oxygen Stabilization for Enhanced Acidic OER

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
A RuO2/WO3 electrocatalyst with strong interfacial Ru–O–W bonds exhibits optimized Ru–O interactions, enhancing intrinsic activity and stability for acidic OER. The WO3 support modulates the electronic structure of RuO2 and promotes oxo‐intermediate deprotonation, delivering a low overpotential of 203 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and sustained operation beyond 200

Multiple Active Sites Engineering in Cu/γ‐Al2O3 Catalyst Enables Selective Electrocatalytic CO2 Reduction to Methane at High Rates

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
A multi‐site heterogeneous electrocatalyst is designed, composed of Cu nanoclusters supported on γ‐Al2O3. Within this system, CO2 activation, H2O dissociation, and *CO protonation are respectively governed by the Cu sites, γ‐Al2O3 sites, and the Cu/γ‐Al2O3 interface sites.

Intrinsically Ultrahigh‐Rate Charging Capability of Conversion Reaction Cathodes and Its Origin: A Mechanism Study on FeS2

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Origin of the ultrahigh‐rate charge capability of FeS2: FeS2 demonstrates exceptional high‐rate charging capability, delivering 92% capacity retention at 10 C and maintaining as much as 60% capacity retention even at 30 C. This originates from an ultrahigh apparent diffusion coefficient involving both Li+ and Fe2+.
