Imposing primary colonisation success of wood‐decomposing fungi in birch wood alters microbiome composition and carbon release rates

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 10, Page 2690-2703, October 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Fungi dominate the decomposition of deadwood, with white rot‐type species removing more lignin than brown rot‐type species to gain access to wood carbohydrates. These fungi often compete to colonise the same tree species, and globally, a small shift in the success of ...

Partial Purifi cation, Stability Analysis, and Preservation of Xylanase from Xylanolytic Alkalophylic Bacteria

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Biotechnology, 2015
A xylanase, which produces xylose from oat spelt xylans, was isolated from the culture medium of  xylanolytic alkalophylic bacteria mutant. The enzyme was purifi ed by ammonium sulphate with level 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90%.

Identifying the Best High‐Biomass Sorghum Hybrids Based on Biomass Yield Potential and Feedstock Quality Affected by Nitrogen Fertility Management Under Various Environments

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 17, Issue 10, October 2025.
High‐biomass sorghum is a key biomass feedstock for meeting the U.S. Department of Energy's Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Grand Challenge targets. This study evaluated 13 high‐biomass sorghum hybrids to identify those with beneficial feedstock traits, specifically high yield, favorable feedstock composition, and sustainable nutrient removal across ...

Epigenetic regulation modulates seasonal temperature‐dependent growth of soybean in southern China

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 10, Page 4580-4601, October 2025.
Summary Epigenetic variations, including DNA methylation and small RNAs, are crucial for plant stress adaptation. However, their association with soybean adaptation to natural environments remains unclear. Through multi‐omics analyses, we investigate soybeans from distinct geographical regions (Northern China: HH43, Southern China: HX3, and Wm82) and ...
