Combined BET and MEK Inhibition synergistically suppresses melanoma by targeting YAP1

open access: yesTheranostics
Rationale: The response rate to the MEK inhibitor trametinib in BRAF-mutated melanoma patients is less than 30%, and drug resistance develops rapidly, but the mechanism is still unclear.

3D Soft Hydrogels Induce Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells “Deep” Quiescence

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional soft hydrogels mimicking the bone marrow niche induce deep quiescence in human mesenchymal stem cells. Unlike 2D culture, 3D matrices halt proliferation, regulate cell‐cycle and quiescence markers, and downregulate mTORC1 signaling, preserving stem cell phenotype and therapeutic potential ex vivo.

Down-regulation of Yes Associated Protein 1 expression reduces cell proliferation and clonogenicity of pancreatic cancer cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BACKGROUND: The Hippo pathway regulates organ size by inhibiting cell proliferation and promoting cell apoptosis upon its activation. The Yes Associated Protein 1 (YAP1) is a nuclear effector of the Hippo pathway that promotes cell growth as a ...

Inhibition of yes-associated protein suppresses brain metastasis of human lung adenocarcinoma in a murine model. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Yes-associated protein (YAP) is a main mediator of the Hippo pathway and promotes cancer development and progression in human lung cancer. We sought to determine whether inhibition of YAP suppresses metastasis of human lung adenocarcinoma in a murine ...

YAP1 controls the N-cadherin-mediated tumor-stroma interaction in melanoma progression

open access: yesOncogene
The hallmark of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is the switch from epithelial cadherin (E-cadherin) to neural cadherin (N-cadherin), allowing melanoma cells to form a homotypic N-cadherin-mediated adhesion with stromal fibroblasts.

YAP1 inhibits RSL3-induced castration-resistant prostate cancer cell ferroptosis by driving glutamine uptake and metabolism to GSH

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 2023
High levels of YAP1 and ferroptosis activation in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) can inhibit CRPC progression and improve its sensitivity toward chemotherapeutics drugs.

Bioprinting of Microtissues Within Mechanically Tunable Support Baths to Engineer Anisotropic Musculoskeletal Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel 4D bioprinting platform for engineering biomimetic musculoskeletal grafts. By tuning the mechanical properties of support baths, we enhance tissue fusion, collagen alignment, and cell differentiation. Using this strategy, we successfully fabricate scaled‐up, anisotropic tissues such as meniscus, articular cartilage, and ...

Beyond Catalytic Therapy: Copper‐Paeonol Nanozymes Disrupt Fascin‐Mediated Actin Bundling to Suppress Tumor Growth and Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Copper‐paeonol nanozymes target tumor‐specific reactive oxygen species generation and disrupt fascin‐mediated actin bundling, effectively suppressing tumor growth and metastatic colonization. Abstract Fascin, an actin‐bundling protein universally upregulated in metastatic tumors, drives tumor migration and invasion by promoting filopodia and ...

SOX2 Regulates YAP1 to Maintain Stemness and Determine Cell Fate in the Osteo-Adipo Lineage

open access: yesCell Reports, 2013
The osteoblastic and adipocytic lineages arise from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), but few regulators of self-renewal and early cell-fate decisions are known.

YAP1 protects against septic liver injury via ferroptosis resistance

open access: yesCell & Bioscience, 2022
Background The liver plays crucial roles in sepsis and is one of the major targets for sepsis-related injuries. Ferroptosis, a newly emerged form of lytic cell death, has been implicated in sepsis related organ failure.
