Yellow Fever Vaccine Seroconversion in Travelers [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2011
To assess immunity after yellow fever (YF) 17D live-attenuated vaccination, we measured the antibody levels before vaccination and at 21 days and 8 months after vaccination in YF-naïve travelers. Thirty subjects were enrolled in the study, with 100% providing sera at 21 days and 86.6% providing sera at 8 months.

Multimodal Detection of COVID-19 Symptoms using Deep Learning & Probability-based Weighting of Modes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the most challenging healthcare crises during the 21st century. As the virus continues to spread on a global scale, the majority of efforts have been on the development of vaccines and the mass immunization of the public.

Analysis By Deep Sequencing of Discontinued Neurotropic Yellow Fever Vaccine Strains

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Deep sequencing of live-attenuated viral vaccines has focused on vaccines in current use. Here we report characterization of a discontinued live yellow fever (YF) vaccine associated with severe adverse events.

Should Eminence Outweigh Evidence? The Global Preparedness Monitoring Board's Report on Pandemic Preparedness

open access: yesGlobal Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Global Pandemic Monitoring Board (GPMB) is a group of eminent individuals publishing reports calling for increased emphasis on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response (PPPR). They advocate for the World Health Organization's (WHO) PPPR preferred approach and its attendant financial requests. Though claiming independence, GPMB is co‐

The 17D-204 and 17DD yellow fever vaccines: an overview of major similarities and subtle differences

open access: yesExpert Review of Vaccines, 2018
Introduction: The yellow fever vaccine is a live attenuated virus vaccine that is considered one of the most efficient vaccines produced to date. The original 17D strain generated the substrains 17D-204 and 17DD, which are used for the current production

Early IFN-gamma production after YF 17D vaccine virus immunization in mice and its association with adaptive immune responses. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Yellow Fever vaccine is one of the most efficacious human vaccines ever made. The vaccine (YF 17D) virus induces polyvalent immune responses, with a mixed TH1/TH2 CD4(+) cell profile, which results in robust T CD8(+) responses and high titers of ...

A mathematical study of CD8+ T cell responses calibrated with human data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Complete understanding of the mechanisms regulating the proliferation and differentiation that takes place during human immune CD8+ T cell responses is still lacking. Human clinical data is usually limited to blood cell counts, yet the initiation of these responses occurs in the draining lymph nodes; antigen-specific effector and memory CD8+ T cells ...

Generation of swine movement network and analysis of efficient mitigation strategies for African swine fever virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Animal movement networks are essential in understanding and containing the spread of infectious diseases in farming industries. Due to its confidential nature, movement data for the US swine farming population is not readily available. Hence, we propose a method to generate such networks from limited data available in the public domain.

Addressing a Yellow Fever Vaccine Shortage — United States, 2016–2017

open access: yesMMWR. Morbidity and mortality weekly report, 2017
Recent manufacturing problems resulted in a shortage of the only U.S.-licensed yellow fever vaccine. This shortage is expected to lead to a complete depletion of yellow fever vaccine available for the immunization of U.S. travelers by mid-2017.
