Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Effects of controlled atmosphere storage with nitrogen on yellowing and quality of high quality rice

open access: yesLiang you shipin ke-ji, 2019
High-quality rice with moisture content of 13.5%was tested at 35 ℃,40 ℃and 45 ℃storage with nitrogen, compared with the control group without nitrogen. The degree of yellowing of high-quality rice and the quality change during the process of yellowing were

Influence of soil properties on the heartwood colour of Juglans mandshurica var. sachalinensis in a cool temperate forest

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 2021
Heartwood colour is often an important factor in determining timber prices. However, the determinants of intraspecific variation in heartwood colour, which is useful information for sustainable wood marketing, are little understood, especially at the ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Colour evaluation of different pasta samples

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2008
The colour of the laboratory prepared pasta was evaluated with respect to wheat flour types (M1 bright, M2 semi-bright, and M3 semolina), egg-ratio (0, 1, 2), and non-traditional cereals (archaic wheat species, tritordeum, spring barley, millet, lupin ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Bleaching of High Yield Mutual Sulphite Semichemical Pulp [PDF]

open access: yes, 1958
The objective of this research project was to investigate the effect of various bleaching agents and procedures on brightness, degree of yellowness and retention of the original high yield of the unbleached neutral sulphite semichemical pulp. In order to

Fruit over sunbed : carotenoid skin coloration is found more attractive than melanin coloration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Skin coloration appears to play a pivotal part in facial attractiveness. Skin yellowness contributes to an attractive appearance and is influenced both by dietary carotenoids and by melanin.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
