The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

INFLUENCE OF ROOTSTOCKS ON GROWTH AND YIELD PARAMETERS OF THE ‘GALA’ AND ‘RED JONAPRINCE’ VARIETIES [VLIV PODNOŽÍ NA RŮSTOVÉ A VÝNOSOVÉ PARAMETRY U ODRŮD ‘GALA’ A ‘RED JONAPRINCE’] [PDF]
In 2017–2023, a rootstock trial was conducted at VŠÚO Holovousy with apple varieties ‘Gala’ and ‘Red Jonaprince’ grafted onto rootstocks of the Geneva series – G11, G16, G41 and clones of rootstock M9 – T337, Pajam1, Pajam2, RN29, Fl56.

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

On the yielding efficiency of soy bean in Japan
1. The author calculated the main yielding factor of soy bean at all prefectural agricultural experiment stations Japan, the total sum of variety investigated by him amounts to 4500. But he argues here onlyon the main yielding factor. 2. The stem length is min. 20, max. 140, mean 65, σ 21 cm. 3. The per tan yield is min. 0.0, max.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Sweet cherry cultivars influenced the growth and productivity under HDP
In a field experiment, to identify the best sweet cherry varieties for high density orcharding, maximum canopy volume (18.94 cm3) was recorded in variety ‘Steela’ and minimum in ‘Lambert’ while, ‘Bigarreau Napoleon’ had maximum TCSA (213 cm2).

Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells
