An Evaluation of the AOAC Method of Yolk Color Analysis

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1980
Abstract Experiments were conducted to evaluate and compare several methods of egg yolk color analysis. Egg yolks of various colors and intensities were produced either by feeding known concentrations of synthetic xanthophylls to color depleted hens or by mixing the xanthophylls directly into depleted egg yolks.

Maintaining egg freshness in the absence of refrigeration: The potential of zero‐energy cooling pots

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Egg storage in regions with unreliable electricity is challenging, leading to rapid quality deterioration and postharvest losses. This study evaluated the efficacy of a Zero‐Energy Cooling (ZEC) pot, an evaporative cooling technology, for preserving table egg quality in comparison to conventional refrigeration and ambient storage ...

Efficacy Of White Turmeric Solution as A Natural Preservative for Eggs: A 12-Hour Soaking Evaluation on Internal Quality

open access: yesAnimal Production: Indonesian Journal of Animal Production
The present study investigated the influence of a 12-hour soak in white turmeric solutions at varying concentrations on the internal quality characteristics of eggs laid by purebred chickens, assessing its potential as a natural preservation method. This

HvarAKR1B1‐mediated tolerance in Hippodamia variegata: Deciphering the metabolic adaptation and fitness costs under prolonged starvation

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Starvation stress significantly affected the growth and development of Hippodamia variegata. Combined transcriptome and metabolome analysis and RNA interference verification revealed that HvarAKR1B1 may be involved in the response of Hippodamia variegata to starvation stress.

Studies on Egg Quality: II Seasonal Variations in Yolk Color

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1927
Abstract Part I 2 of these studies dealt with the practical and theoretical importance of questions of “egg quality,” including under the term such characteristics as yolk color, albumen color and consistency, shell thickness and texture, and the like. It also contained a brief review of the literature of one phase of the subject, that of yolk color;

Development and Assessment of Fluorescent‐Dyed, Preserved Invasive Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) Eggs as Surrogates for Live Eggs in Transport and Dispersal Control Experiments

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Invasive species such as grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) pose substantial ecological threats to North American freshwater ecosystems. Understanding their early life stage behavior is critical for management efforts. From spawning to hatching, invasive carp eggs must remain suspended in the water column while drifting downstream for the ...

The Effect on Yolk Color of Various Ingredients in Poultry Feeds

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1937
Abstract VARIATIONS in egg yolk color are of economic importance to the commercial poultryman. Because of rigid egg grading and candling practices, there is a demand for eggs with uniform-colored yolks for discriminating markets. This, together with the occasional necessity for the poultryman to vary his laying ration, makes it desirable that he know

Shaping Function: Polymeric 3D Systems With Unconventional Geometries for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Particle shape is a key design parameter governing biological interactions. Advances in fabrication enable precise control over anisotropy and compartmentalization, allowing modulation of cellular uptake, transport, and biodistribution, ultimately enhancing therapeutic performance. ABSTRACT Polymer geometry is a primary determinant of physical behavior
