Utilisation of bacterial (Rubrivivax gelatinosus) biomass for egg yolk pigmentation

Animal Production Science, 2009
The effects of Rubrivivax gelatinosus biomass inclusion in diets of Dekalb White laying hens were assessed. The traits studied were yolk colour, consumer preference and hepatic and renal function. Broken-line regression was used to assess the biomass requirements for yolk colour attributes.

Evaluation of beta‐apo‐8'‐garotenal as an egg yolk pigmenter

British Poultry Science, 1971
Synopsis Beta‐apo‐8'‐carotenal has been shown to be an effective egg yolk pigmenter when fed singly or in combination with dehydrated alfalfa and yellow corn. More effective pigmentation appeared to have been obtained with the lower levels of the β‐apo‐8'‐carotenal supplemented to diets containing dehydrated alfalfa and yellow corn. The compound can be

Absence of effects of dietary α‐tocopherol on egg yolk pigmentation

British Poultry Science, 1992
Abstract 1. Three experiments were carried out in which yolk colour and carotenoid content were measured in hens fed diets containing soyabean oil or tallow and supplemented with 0, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160 or 320 mg tocopheryl acetate. 2. Fat type had no consistent effect on yolk carotenoid content but yolk α‐tocopherol concentrations were lower with the ...

Effetcts of Natural Pigments on Old Hens' Yolk

2005
To test the effects of red pepper (Capsicum annuum) and corn gluten meal as pigment sources on egg yolk pigmentation, performance and egg characteristics, they were added into corn and wheat based diets of white layers in separate and in combination at an age between 53-63 wks period. Four treatment groups were consisted to examine the effects of these
