Zebrafish chromosome banding

Genome, 1995
Banding techniques were carried out on metaphase chromosomes of zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos. The karyotypes with the longest chromosomes consist of 12 metacentrics, 26 submetacentrics, and 12 subtelocentrics (2n = 50). All centromeres are C-band positive.

GFAP transgenic zebrafish

Gene Expression Patterns, 2006
We have generated transgenic zebrafish that express green fluorescent protein (GFP) in glial cells driven by the zebrafish glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) regulatory elements. Transgenic lines Tg(gfap:GFP) were generated from three founders; the results presented here are from the mi2001 line.

Zebrafish

2002
Abstract The zebrafish has become one of the most important model organisms to study biologial processes in vivo. As a vertebrate that has many of the strengths of invertebrate model systems, it offers numerous advantages to researchers interested in many aspects of embryonic development, physiology and disease.

Zebrafish Pronephros Development

2017
The pronephros is the first kidney type to form in vertebrate embryos. The first step of pronephrogenesis in the zebrafish is the formation of the intermediate mesoderm during gastrulation, which occurs in response to secreted morphogens such as BMPs and Nodals.

Saving zebrafish mutants

BioEssays, 1999
At present, the zebrafish Danio rerio is the only vertebrate species for which a large-scale mutagenesis effort to identify developmental genes has been reported. Several laboratories are now intensely pursuing the molecular characterization of the genes affected by these mutations.

Imaging Zebrafish Development

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2011
INTRODUCTIONIn the last two decades, the small tropical freshwater-dwelling zebrafish has emerged as a popular model for developmental biologists. The exceptional optical accessibility of zebrafish embryos coupled with the ability to use genetic tools to indelibly tag cells have been exploited to watch developmental events as they unfold.
