Quantum-dot-based optical polarization conversion

open access: yes, 2005
We report circular-to-linear and linear-to-circular conversion of optical polarization by semiconductor quantum dots. The polarization conversion occurs under continuous wave excitation in absence of any magnetic field. The effect originates from quantum

Compact mid-infrared Cr:ZnSe channel waveguide laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We demonstrate a mid-infrared channel waveguide laser in Cr:ZnSe operating at 2573 nm. The compact cavity has a total footprint of less than 3 cm(2) and produces a maximum power output of 18.5 mW.

Compositional Characterization, Quality Parameters, and Physicochemical and Bioactive Properties of Pequi (Caryocar brasiliense) Oils From Xingu and Cerrado in Mato Grosso, Brazil

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
Cerrado oil is richer in MUFA and antioxidant compounds, while Xingu oil shows higher SFA and enhanced oxidative stability, reinforcing the potential of pequi oil as a sustainable bioactive ingredient. ABSTRACT Pequi (Caryocar brasiliense) is a native fruit widely distributed in Brazilian biomes, specially in Cerrado, known for its high oil yield and ...

Post‐Shaping Over‐Impregnation: A Facile Strategy for Pt‐KL Catalysts With Ultrahigh Metal Dispersion and Enhanced Aromatization Performance

open access: yesCarbon and Hydrogen, EarlyView.
A scalable post‐shaping strategy achieves precise Pt localization within KL zeolite, where optimized spatial distribution minimizes diffusion barriers to deliver superior n‐hexane aromatization activity, selectivity, and stability. ABSTRACT The precise localization of metal clusters within zeolite frameworks is critical for the aromatization catalysis.

Band offsets and stability of BeTe/ZnSe (100) heterojunctions

open access: yes, 2000
We present ab-initio studies of band offsets, formation energy, and stability of (100) heterojunctions between (Zn,Be)(Se,Te) zincblende compounds, and in particular of the lattice-matched BeTe/ZnSe interface. Equal band offsets are found at Be/Se and Zn/

Stabilization of Pd Active Sites by Defective NaY Zeolite Framework for Enhanced Stability in Dimethyl Carbonate Synthesis

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
A tailored‐defect strategy employing sequential high‐temperature calcination and acetylacetone treatment was developed to generate framework defects in NaY zeolite while preventing the formation of strong acid sites. These defects facilitate electron transfer from Pd to the zeolite framework and stabilize the Pd2+ active sites, thereby conferring ...

Current-Induced Polarization and the Spin Hall Effect at Room Temperature

open access: yes, 2006
Electrically-induced electron spin polarization is imaged in n-type ZnSe epilayers using Kerr rotation spectroscopy. Despite no evidence for an electrically-induced internal magnetic field, current-induced in-plane spin polarization is observed with ...

Unraveling Mechanisms and Engineering Strategies for Superior Photocarrier Dynamics Toward Efficient Photocatalysis

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
Despite its potential, photocatalysis is limited by inefficient charge carrier separation and transport. This article reviews the mechanisms, characterization methods, and strategies for improvement, concluding with future challenges in the field. ABSTRACT Photocatalysis offers a promising solution to environmental and renewable energy issues. However,

Magnitude of Magnetic Field Dependence of a Possible Selective Spin Filter in ZnSe/Zn_{1-x}Mn_{x}Se Multilayer Heterostructure

open access: yes, 2008
Spin-polarized transport through a band-gap-matched ZnSe/Zn_{1-x}Mn_{x} Se/ZnSe/Zn_{1-x}Mn_{x}Se/ZnSe multilayer structure is investigated. The resonant transport is shown to occur at different energies for different spins owing to the split of spin ...
