Transamination of α-keto acids catalyzed by pyridoxals
In this paper,we designed and synthesized a series of pyridoxals tagged with different functional groups. The pyridoxals exhibited high catalytic activity in transamination of α-keto acids to obtain various amino acids in good yields. This transamination ...

Supercritical carbon dioxide hops extracts with antimicrobial properties [PDF]
Extracts obtained from hops (Humulus lupulus L., Cannabaceae) by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), SFE followed by isomerization, as well as by conventional technique, were investigated for their chemical composition and antibacterial activity ...

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Synthesis of new Cα-tetrasubstituted α-amino acids
Cα-Tetrasubstituted α-amino acids are important building blocks for the synthesis of peptidemimetics with stabilized secondary structure, because of their ability to rigidify the peptide backbone.

Fatty acids composition of fruits of selected Central European sedges (Carex L. Cyperaceae)
Fatty acids in the fruits of 13 sedge species (Carex L., Cyperaceae) were analyzed. The oil contents in the fruits of the studied sedges ranged from 3.73 and 46.52%. In the studied fruit oils 14 different fatty acids were identified. The main unsaturated

IMPROVING THE HOP UTILIZATION IN THE BEER BIOTECHNOLOGY [PDF]
The rate of isomerization of alpha acids to iso-alpha acids (the bittering compounds in beer) was characterized over a representative pH, wort concentration, time boiling and temperature range during the boiling portion of the brewing process. Because of

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Systems chemistry of α-amino acids and peptides
Pathways have been disclosed in the past decade, which support the possibility that α-amino acids could have contributed to self-organization processes leading to the emergence of life.

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
