Soil Microbial Assembly Mirrors a Savanna Mosaic Amid Plant Invasion and Soil Disturbance

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
Grasslands and woody patches supported distinct soil and microbial assemblages, consistent with differences in vegetation inputs and nutrient regimes. Grasslands exhibited relatively simple assembly patterns, with plant diversity closely associated with soil nutrients and comparatively homogeneous microbial communities.

Effects of Oral Semaglutide on Dietary Intake and Body Composition in Japanese People With Type 2 Diabetes: A Prospective Observational Study in Clinical Practice

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
This prospective observational study evaluated changes in dietary patterns and body composition after 3 months of oral semaglutide treatment in people with Type 2 diabetes. Oral semaglutide was associated with reduced energy intake, salt intake and body fat while preserving handgrip strength.

Dipeptidyl Peptidase‐4 Inhibitors Associated Heart Failure Events in Adult Patients With Type‐2 Diabetes Mellitus Treated With Dipeptidyl Peptidase‐4 Inhibitors: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
DPP‐4 Inhibitors associated withheart failure events in patients with type‐2 diabetes. This study found statistically insignificant summary effect for all DPP‐4 inhibitors combined but found asignificant association of saxagliptin with heart failure events (RR = 1.24, 95% CI 1.05–1.47). Results are to be interpreted with caution.

Kiwifruit Seed Polyphenols Ameliorate High‐Fat‐Induced Obese Mice via Inhibition of Inflammation and Regulation of Gut Microbiota Balance

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 5, September 2026.
Kiwifruit seed polyphenols (KSP) alleviate high‐fat diet‐induced obesity and metabolic dysfunction in mice by reducing body weight gain, adiposity, hepatic steatosis, and insulin resistance. KSP also suppresses inflammation, improves lipid metabolism, and reshapes gut microbiota composition, restoring short‐chain fatty acid production, thereby ...

Effects of Early Light‐Quality Pretreatment During Withering on the Taste and Aroma Quality of Autumn White Tea

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This study establishes early light‐quality pretreatment as an effective strategy to enhance the flavor of autumn white tea. A multi‐platform framework integrating sensory evaluation, electronic tongue (E‐tongue), electronic nose (E‐nose), high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ultraviolet‐visible (UV‐Vis) spectrophotometry, and gas ...
