Central Pathways Integrating Metabolism and Reproduction in Teleosts
Energy balance plays an important role in the control of reproduction. However, the cellular and molecular mechanisms connecting the two systems are not well understood especially in teleosts.

Structural modification of the tripeptide KPV by reductive "glycoalkylation" of the lysine residue. [PDF]
Peptides that exhibit enzymatic or hormonal activities are regulatory factors and desirable therapeutic drugs because of their high target specificity and minimal side effects.

This study compared the ecological toxicity of organic ultraviolet filters, octocrylene (OC) and ethylhexyl salicylate (EHS), on zebrafish embryos and larvae. EHS exhibited higher acute toxicity, causing increased mortality, hypoactive behavior at 50 mg/L, and disruptions in lipid homeostasis, while OC primarily affected hypoxia response and ...

Depigmenting Effect of Catechins
The aim of the present work was to clarify the anti-melanogenic mechanism of the catechin group. In this study, we used (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), (-)-epigallocatechin (EGC), (-)-catechin (C), and gallic acid (GA).

Is there a role for cannabidiol in obesity, metabolic syndrome and binge eating?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant phytocannabinoids isolated from the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD is a lipophilic, non‐intoxicating substance that differently from Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) does not present the typical profile of a drug of abuse.

Gut microbiota as a novel therapeutic target for eating disorders and obesity
The graphical abstract highlights the bidirectional interaction between the gut microbiota and central homeostatic and hedonic mechanisms regulating food intake, which contributes to overweight and obesity. It also illustrates emerging microbiota‐based biomarkers and therapeutic strategies (including prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics, synbiotics and ...

By assembling cortical‐hypothalamic circuits, we show that cortical input protects hypothalamic neurons from fatty acid‐induced damage, which activates PGC1α to boost mitochondrial function. This reveals a cortico‐hypothalamic axis that defends against metabolic stress.

Summary Background Erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by severe phototoxic reactions that occur within minutes of light exposure. In clinical studies, afamelanotide has been shown to prolong pain‐free sun exposure, improve quality of life, and reduce the frequency and severity of phototoxic reactions ...

Hypercortisolism: Causes, Consequences and Clinical Significance – A Review of Pathophysiology
ABSTRACT Hypercortisolism or Cushing syndrome is a heterogeneous clinical spectrum caused by chronic glucocorticoid excess, ranging from exogenous Cushing syndrome to rare endogenous aetiologies and the increasingly recognised entity of mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS). Physiological cortisol production is tightly regulated by the hypothalamic–
