Epigallocatechin Gallate Ameliorates Nicotine Withdrawal Conditions‐Induced Somatic and Affective Behavior Changes in Mice and Its Molecular Mechanism

open access: yesBehavioural Neurology, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
In nicotine withdrawal (NW) conditions, molecular changes, such as increasing corticotropin‐releasing factor (CRF) in the amygdala, and melanocortin signaling in the hypothalamus, can occur in the brain, leading to increased feeding behavior and body weight as somatic changes as well as high anxiety‐like behavior as an affective changes.

Different efficiency of auxiliary/chaperone proteins to promote the functional reconstitution of honeybee glutamate and acetylcholine receptors in Xenopus laevis oocytes

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 31, Issue 5, Page 620-633, October 2022., 2022
Insect ionotropic receptors are difficult to express in heterologous system. Honeybee GluR‐1 is functional when co‐expressed with honeybee chaperone proteins but not α7, α2α8β1 and α2α7α8β1 nAChRs. Expression of α1‐containing nAChRs critically depends on α1 N terminus.

(−)-Adaline from the Adalia Genus of Ladybirds Is a Potent Antagonist of Insect and Specific Mammalian Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Ladybird beetles (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) possess strong chemical defences that are secreted in response to stress and are also found on the coating of eggs, which are rich in alkaloids that are responsible for their toxicity to other species.

Sleep-related hypermotor epilepsy associated mutations uncover important kinetic roles of α4β2- nicotinic acetylcholine receptor intracellular structures.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Sleep-related hypermotor epilepsy (SHE) is a group of seizure disorders prominently associated with mutations in nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR). The most prevalent central nervous system nAChR subtype contains α4 and β2 subunits, in two ratios.

TC299423, a Novel Agonist for Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2017
(E)-5-(Pyrimidin-5-yl)-1,2,3,4,7,8-hexahydroazocine (TC299423) is a novel agonist for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). We examined its efficacy, affinity, and potency for α6β2∗ (α6β2-containing), α4β2∗, and α3β4∗ nAChRs, using [125I ...

High-throughput cell-based assays for identifying antagonists of multiple smoking-associated human nicotinic acetylcholine receptor subtypes

open access: yesSLAS Discovery, 2022
There is substantial evidence that in addition to nicotine, other compounds found in tobacco smoke significantly influence smoking behavior. Further, recent years have seen an explosion in the availability of non-combusted products that deliver nicotine,

Alterations in Neuronal Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors in the Pathogenesis of Various Cognitive Impairments. [PDF]

open access: yesCNS Neurosci Ther
Changes of neuronal nAChRs in various cognitive impairments. The function of nAChRs is related to learning and memory and anti‐neurotoxicity. The modifications of nAChRs have their characteristics in different cognitive impairments. A variety of nAChR agonists and inhibitors have been and are being tested for treatment of cognitive impairment ...
