Expression and nucleotide sequence of the Clostridium acetobutylicum β-galactosidase gene cloned in Escherichia coli

open access: yes, 1991
A gene library for Clostridium acetobutylicum NCIB 2951 was constructed in the broad-host-range cosmid pLAFR1, and cosmids containing the β-galactosidase gene were isolated by direct selection for enzyme activity on X-Gal (5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indoly-β-D ...

FUCA2 Sustains AKT Signaling and Suppresses Senescence by Antagonizing FUT3‐Mediated ErbB3 Fucosylation in Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While targeted therapies have improved outcomes in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), many patients still lack targetable mutations. Here, we identified alpha‐L‐fucosidase 2 (FUCA2) as a crucial driver of LUAD by preventing cellular senescence. Mechanistically, through the restriction of fucosyltransferase 3 (FUT3)‐mediated α‐1,3‐fucosylation of ...

Deproteinization: an integrated-solution approach to increase efficiency in β-galactosidase production using cheese whey powder (CWP) solution

open access: yesRevista Ambiente & Água, 2017
Whey is the liquid that results from the coagulation of milk during cheese manufacture. Cheese whey is also an important environmental pollution source.

Tracing Gene Expression Through Detection of β-galactosidase Activity in Whole Mouse Embryos

open access: yes, 2018
The Escherichia coli LacZ gene, encoding β-galactosidase, is largely used as a reporter for gene expression and as a tracer in cell lineage studies. The classical histochemical reaction is based on the hydrolysis of the substrate X-gal in combination ...

Bioadhesive Hydrogel With Polyphenol‐Armored Nanogene Rejuvenates Chondrocyte Senescence for Aged Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An adhesive hydrogel depot with polyphenol‐armored nanogenes is developed for treating aged osteoarthritis. This system maintains miR‐140 bioactivity, prolongs its intra‐articular retention, and enhances transfection into chondrocytes, leading to the downregulation of senescence‐associated pathways.

Purification and some properties of phospho-β-galactosidase from the Gram-negative oral bacterium Leptotrichia buccalis ATCC 14201 [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 2002
Phospho-beta-galactosidase (P-beta-gal; EC 3.2.1.85) is induced during growth of Leptotrichia buccalis ATCC 14201 on lactose and lactulose. The enzyme has been purified to electrophoretic homogeneity (M(r) approximately 53 kDa, pI approximately 4.8), and kinetic parameters have been determined using the chromogenic analog o-nitrophenyl-beta-D ...

Light‐Switched Mesenchymal Stem Cells for In Situ Exosome Amplification in Craniofacial Bone Defect Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Light‐switchable MSCs (MSC‐UCNPs) were constructed by intracellular incorporation of UCNPs. Upon 980 nm irradiation, UCNPs emitted localized ultraviolet light (365 nm), activating the ROS/HEXB/LAMP1 signaling pathway to suppress lysosome–multivesicular body fusion and thereby enhance exosome biogenesis. Embedded within an injectable hydrogel, MSC‐UCNPs

Targeting Golgi–STING Signaling to Reprogram Innate and Adaptive Immunity for the Treatment of Implant‐Associated Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an ultrasound‐responsive nanoplatform, CS‐BT@MZ@NEs, with a BaTiO3/Mn‐Zif‐8 core and a chondroitin sulfate coating for Golgi targeting. By leveraging neutrophil hitchhiking, it enables targeted delivery to infection sites. Under ultrasound stimulation, CS‐BT@MZ@NEs generates ROS and modulates Golgi pH to activate cGAS–STING ...

In vitro digestibility of oligosaccharides synthesized by dairy propionibacteria β-galactosidase from lactose, lactulose and lactitol

open access: yes, 2023
Prebiotics synthesized by probiotic genera are of interest due to their specific selectivity. However, modifications of their composition and concentrations by digestion may affect their properties and effects in the host.

Oligopeptides/DNA Coacervate Droplets as Macromolecular Delivery Microcarriers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Oligopeptide–DNA coacervates formed via liquid–liquid phase separation serve as programmable carriers for macromolecular cargos, entering cells through lipid raft–associated pathways and subsequently undergoing enzyme triggered intracellular disassembly driven by DNA degradation processes, thereby enabling efficient, controlled, and spatially defined ...
