Effect of papulacandin B on β-glucan synthesis in Schizosaccharomyces pombe [PDF]
The antifungal antibiotic papulacandin β inhibited B(1,3)glucan-synthase activity, in vitro, from Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Levels of β(1,3)glucan-synthase from antibiotic-treated cultures were lower than the control cultures whereas mannan-synthase and β(1,3)glucanase activities were almost unaffected.

Role of anti-β-glucan antibody in host defense against fungi [PDF]
We have recently detected an anti-beta-glucan antibody in normal human and normal mouse sera. The anti-beta-glucan antibody showed reactivity to pathogenic fungal Aspergillus and Candida cell wall glucan. Anti-beta-glucan antibody could bind whole Candida cells.
