Application of 16S rRNA next generation sequencing in ticks in Greece

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
Tick-borne bacteria pose a significant threat to human and veterinary public health. Greece is a Mediterranean country with rich tick fauna and the most commonly detected tick-borne bacterial pathogens are members of the Rickettsia and Anaplasma species.

RNAi in the Rhizarian Phytopathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae: The Causal Agent of Clubroot Disease in Cruciferous Crops

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers an unusual RNAi pathway in the rhizarian pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae. In the absence of Dicer, a Drosha‐like RNase III protein supports the biogenesis of predominant 21‐nt small RNAs, and two Argonaute proteins mediate small RNA‐guided silencing.

Gut microbiota-16S rRNA gene sequencing data

open access: yes, 2022
To explore whether liraglutide could improve dyslipidemia by modulating the gut microbiota, the C57BL/6 mice were fed ahigh-fat diet to establish an animal model of dyslipidemia, and then administered with liraglutide or normal saline. After intervention

The Plant‐to‐Plant Circular Strategy: Coupling Photodegradation and Phytoremediation With Plant‐Based Nanomaterials for Plastic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.

The Landscape of Long Non‐Coding RNAs Provides Insights Into the Domestication and Improvement of Pear Fruit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that long non‐coding RNAs represent important regulatory components underlying pear domestication and improvement. Integrative multi‐omics analyses identify selected lncRNAs associated with fruit traits, while functional validation uncovers a lignin‐related lncRNA, lncRNA‐pys, that promotes lignin accumulation.

Genome‐Wide and Multi‐Omics Analysis Identified DNA‐Interacting Circular RNA circFOXK2 as MLL1 Regulator for Histone H3K4 Methylation in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Circular RNA circFOXK2 is frequently upregulated in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma to promote tumor heterogeneity, growth, and metastasis. Through circRNA‐DNA interaction at different genomic locations, circFOXK2 removes the PPIE inhibitory effects on MLL1 for gene‐activating H3K4 methylation of the oncogenes.

Analysis of the bacterial communities in the rhizosphere of Chrysanthemum via denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis of PCR- amplified 16S rRNA as well as DNA fragments coding for 16S rRNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The effect of developing chrysanthemum roots on the presence and activity of bacterial populations in the rhizosphere was examined by using culture-independent methods.

Highly Sensitive Spatial Host‐Microbiome Transcriptomics in FFPE Tissues via Iterative Hydrogel Expansion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ex‐spRandom is a spatial transcriptomics platform that synergizes random‐primed chemistry with iterative hydrogel expansion. By physically decrowding the dense FFPE matrix, this scalable technology shatters the traditional resolution‐sensitivity barrier.

Preliminary detection of haemoplasma in Thai cat blood samples using universal primers: identifying ‘ Mycoplasma haemominutum’ and closely related species

open access: yesJournal of Feline Medicine and Surgery
Objectives This study examined feline haemoplasmas ( Mycoplasma haemofelis , ‘ Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum’ [ C Mhm] and ‘ Candidatus Mycoplasma turicensis’) infecting Thai domestic cats, using the 16S and 23S rRNA genes as genetic markers ...
