Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Evaluating oxalate-degrading Lactobacillus spp. for their ability to be used as probiotics in the treatment of kidney stone disease [PDF]
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 73-95).Although the direct cause of kidney stone formation is not known, reports have suggested it is probably a multifactorial disease.

Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Identification of Vibrio anguillarum in fish by using partial 16S rRNA sequences and a specific 16S rRNA oligonucleotide probe [PDF]
16S rRNA from seven different Vibrio anguillarum strains was partially sequenced and compared. From this sequence information we could design a 25-base-long oligonucleotide and use it as a specific probe for identification of V. anguillarum. This was determined by RNA-DNA colony hybridization and slot-blot hybridization.

Ionomycin suppresses cancer cell growth by disrupting mitochondrial transcription
In this study, we identify a new function for the selective Ca2+ ionophore, ionomycin, as an inhibitor of mitochondrial transcription. Both total and nascent RNA analyses revealed that ionomycin treatment reduces the transcription of mitochondrial genes.

[Identification of mycobacteria by sequencing of rpoB gene and 16S rRNA].
To classify a specific Mycobacterium among various mycobacteria utilizing sequencing of rpoB gene. To classify mycobacteria not identified by DNA-DNA hybridization (DDH) using sequencing of rpoB and 16S rRNA gene.Classification of 106 Mycobacteria strains, one Nocardia strain, one Rhodococcus strain, four Gordona strains was made by using partial ...

Comparative Analysis of 16S and 23S rRNA Sequences of Listeria Species [PDF]
In order to establish the taxonomic value of 16S rRNA and 23S rRNA for distinguishing Listeria species, the complete 23S rRNA sequences for all Listeria species were determined by using the type strains. We designed and experimentally validated a universal 23S rRNA sequencing method, which included PCR amplification of the rDNA gene and direct cycle ...

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.
