17β-Estradiol Regulates SKP2 Expression in Cultured Immature Boar Sertoli Cells Mainly via Estrogen Receptor β, cAMP-PKA and ERK1/2

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2014
Estrogen plays an important role in regulating testicular Sertoli cell number. Furthermore, S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (SKP2) plays a central role in mammalian cell cycle progression.

17β-Estradiol Inhibits Proliferation and Oxidative Stress in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells by Upregulating BHLHE40 Expression

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2021
Background: Intimal hyperplasia is a major complication of restenosis after angioplasty. The abnormal proliferation and oxidative stress of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are the basic pathological feature of neointimal hyperplasia.

17β-Estradiol enhances sulforaphane cardioprotection against oxidative stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The lower incidence of ischemic heart disease in female with respect to male gender suggests the possibility that female sex hormones could have specific effects in cardiovascular protection.

Effects of 17β-estradiol and equilin on atherosclerosis development in female Apoe shl mice

open access: yesScientific Reports
The effects of conjugated equine estrogens (CEE) and 17β-estradiol-based hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on atherosclerosis development remain controversial.

Spatially Organized Human Ovarian Spheroids Instruct Endometrial Morphogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A spatially organized human follicle‐like spheroid (SPHEGaT) composed of granulosa cells (GCs) and stromal‐derived theca‐like cells (TLCs) establishes sustained steroidogenesis in vitro. When co‐cultured with human endometrial organoids (EMOs), estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P4) exchange induces secretory/progesterone‐responsive differentiation ...

17β-estradiol modulates cardioprotective effects of nutraceutical compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Cardiovascular disease rarely manifests in pre-menopausal women meanwhile, the incidence of these pathologies dramatically increases after the menopause suggesting the possibility that sex hormones could have a key role.

17β-Estradiol Promotes Apoptosis of HepG2 Cells Caused by Oxidative Stress by Increasing Foxo3a Phosphorylation

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2021
Liver cancer is associated with high mortality, particularly in patients infected with the hepatitis B virus. Treatment methods remain very limited. Here, we explored the effects of 17β-estradiol (E2) on apoptosis of various liver cell lines (LO2, HepG2,

Magnetic Water Cleaning of Estrogens via Tight yet Dynamic Binding to Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Micropollution is one of the big challenges humanity faces with estrogen hormones being emerging pollutants of concern. Here, a supramolecular design strategy is presented that generates a simple nano‐adsorbent material to magnetically remove low‐concentrated estrogens from water.

ZBTB18 Dysfunction Promotes Neuropathic Pain via CHD4‐based Epigenetic Disinhibition of CLIC1 Channels in Sensory Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we identify a novel functional role of ZBTB18 in regulating trigeminal‐mediated neuropathic pain. Nerve injury reduces ZBTB18 in trigeminal ganglion neurons, impairing CHD4/NuRD recruitment and de‐repressing Clic1. Elevated CLIC1 enhances chloride channel activity and neuronal hyperexcitability, thereby driving pain.

The effect of 17β-estradiol administration on cutaneous wound healing in 24-week ovariectomized female mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Estrogen replacement promotes cutaneous wound healing in 8–10-week young ovariectomized female mice. However, research using aged ovariectomized female mice has not been reported, to the best of our knowledge. Therefore, we investigated the effect of 17β-
