Comparison of Traditional Chinese Exercise and Equipment‐Based Exercise on Glycaemic Control and Vitamin D Levels in Middle‐Aged and Elderly Patients With Prediabetes: A Randomised Controlled Trial

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
In middle‐aged and elderly patients with prediabetes, both Traditional Chinese Exercise (Baduanjin) and equipment‐based exercise improved glycaemic control and significantly raised serum 25(OH)D3 (+60.6% to +81.9%) over 12 weeks. KEE showed larger numerical changes, but direct comparison did not establish superiority over TCE.

Simultaneous Quantification of 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 and 24,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 in Rats Shows Strong Correlations between Serum and Brain Tissue Levels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2015
While vitamin D3 is recognized as a neuroactive steroid affecting both brain development and function, efficient analytical method in determining vitamin D3 metabolites in the brain tissue is still lacking, and the relationship of vitamin D3 status ...

Individual and Combined Cardioprotective Effects of 1,25(OH)2D3 and Dimethyl Fumarate in an Isoproterenol‐Induced Myocardial Injury Model

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 9, September 2026.
1,25(OH)2D3 and dimethyl fumarate, administered alone or in combination, provide significant cardioprotection against isoproterenol‐induced myocardial injury by reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and structural damage through modulation of the Nrf2/NF‐κB signaling pathways and the renin–angiotensin system (RAS).

Role of Insulin-Like Growth Factor Binding Protein-3 in 1, 25-Dihydroxyvitamin-D3-Induced Breast Cancer Cell Apoptosis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cell Biology, 2013
Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) is implicated in breast cancer development and 1, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1, 25-D3) has been shown to attenuate prosurvival effects of IGF-I on breast cancer cells.

In silico analysis of the functional non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms in the human CYP27B1 gene

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Medical Human Genetics, 2018
Background: CYP27B1 gene codes for 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 1-α-hydroxylase, an enzyme that catalyses the activation of vitamin D to the 1-α, 25 dihydroxyvitamin D3.

24R,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 Promotes the Osteoblastic Differentiation of Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells

open access: yes, 2014
Although 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 [1α,25(OH)2D3] is considered the most biologically active vitamin D3 metabolite, the vitamin D3 prohormone, 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 [25(OH)D3], is metabolized into other forms, including 24R,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 [24R,25 ...

Antitumor effect of 24R,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3.

open access: yesIn vivo (Athens, Greece), 1992
24R,25(OH)2D3, one of the endogenous active metabolites of vitamin D3, showed suppressive effects on the proliferation of various tumor cells in vitro and a prolonging effect on the survival of P-388 bearing mice in vivo. Lewis lung carcinoma was found to cause hypercalcemia in tumor bearing mice.
