A Unified Photoredox Platform for Divergent Dual C─H/N─H Selenylation to Access N,C‐ and C,C‐Diselenides

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
We report a visible‐light photoredox‐catalyzed strategy for the divergent dual selenylation of inert C─H and N─H bonds. Using a single catalytic system with Ru(bpy)3Cl2·6H2O and diselenides, arylamines and indoles are selectively converted to distinct N,C‐ or C,C‐disubstituted organoselenides, respectively. ABSTRACT We report a visible‐light photoredox‐

Gut microbiota and metabolites of α-synuclein transgenic monkey models with early stage of Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesnpj Biofilms and Microbiomes, 2021
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disease. However, it is unclear whether microbiota and metabolites have demonstrated changes at early PD due to the difficulties in diagnosis and identification of early PD in ...

Lactiplantibacillus plantarum AS21 Attenuates Sex‐Biased Glucose Intolerance in Aging Mice via Gut Mucosal Microbiota‐Derived Citrulline

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 8, August 2026.
Aging induces sex‐differential glucose intolerance, with male‐specific citrulline depletion. Lactiplantibacillus plantarum AS21 elevates microbiota‐derived citrulline metabolism and enhances GLP‐1 secretion, improving glucose homeostasis. ABSTRACT Aging‐related metabolic decline, particularly impaired glucose tolerance, represents a growing challenge ...

3-Methylindole-Based Tripodal Tetraphosphine Ruthenium Complexes in N2 Coordination and Reduction and Formic Acid Dehydrogenation

open access: yesInorganics, 2017
The ruthenium(II) complexes RuCl2L1H, RuCl2L1CF3, RuCl2L1OMe and RuCl2L2H were synthesized from [Ru(η6-benzene)Cl(μ-Cl)]2 and the corresponding tripodal tris-3-methylindolephosphine-based ligands L1H, L1CF3, L1OMe, and L2H.

Synthesis of 2‐Aminotetralins via Pd‐Catalyzed Alkene Difunctionalization Reactions: Use of Ligand Structure to Suppress Facile Intramolecular 5‐Exo‐Heck Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 13, 2 July 2026.
Aryl triflates that contain ortho‐butenyl groups typically undergo facile intramolecular Pd‐catalyzed Heck reactions to form indene derivatives. However, these substrates can instead be coupled with amines in Pd‐catalyzed alkene difunctionalization reactions to generate 2‐amino tetralins and/or 1‐aminomethyl indanes when a catalyst composed of Pd2(dba ...

Mining for Novel Tryptophanase A: Extremophilic Organisms Ardenticatena maritima and Haloarcula japonica as Alternatives to E. coli in the Synthesis of Tryptophan Analogues

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 14, 29 July 2026.
Novel extremophilic tryptophanases (TnaAs) are tested in the synthesis of L‐tryptophan analogues. This study compares a thermophilic and a halophilic TnaA with E. coli TnaA as benchmark, from both structural and catalytic perspectives, revealing enhanced stability, and a broader substrate scope for the new homologues.

Azolyacetones as Precursors to Indoles and Naphthofurans Facilitated by Microwave Irradiation with Simultaneous Cooling

open access: yesMolecules, 2009
Phthalimide reacted with phenacyl bromide under microwave irradiation to yield phenacyl isoindolidene-1,3-dione (3b), while 3a reacted with phenylhydrazine to yield the phenylhydrazone 4 that was readily converted into indoylphthalimide 8.

Characterization of a novel phenol hydroxylase in indoles biotransformation from a strain Arthrobacter sp. W1 [corrected]. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Indigoids, as popular dyes, can be produced by microbial strains or enzymes catalysis. However, the new valuable products with their transformation mechanisms, especially inter-conversion among the intermediates and products have not been clearly ...

Influence of substrate freshness on metabolite dynamics and methane emissions from pig slurry during laboratory incubation

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 55, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Freeze/thaw pretreatment is commonly applied to animal slurry samples in laboratory studies, but its impact on organic matter transformation and methane (CH4) emissions remains uncertain. In this study, slurry incubations were performed at 20°C with three treatments differing in freshness of feces, urine, and inoculum.
