Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

The coxsackievirus B 3C protease cleaves MAVS and TRIF to attenuate host type I interferon and apoptotic signaling. [PDF]
The host innate immune response to viral infections often involves the activation of parallel pattern recognition receptor (PRR) pathways that converge on the induction of type I interferons (IFNs).

The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Kinetic and thermodynamic analysis of leech-derived tryptase inhibitor interaction with bovine tryptase and bovine trypsin [PDF]
The interaction of leech-derived tryptase inhibitor (LDTI) with bovine liver capsule tryptase (BLCT) and bovine trypsin has been studied using both thermodynamic and kinetic approaches.

Diminished Intracellular Invariant Chain Expression Following Vaccinia Virus Infection [PDF]
Vaccinia virus (VV) has been used as a vaccine to eradicate smallpox and as a vaccine for HIV and tumors. However, the immunoevasive properties of VV, have raised safety concerns.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Viral protease binds to nucleosomal DNA and cleaves nuclear cGAS that attenuates type I interferon
Nuclear cyclic GMP-AMP synthetase (cGAS) binds to nucleosome with high affinity to prevent its activation by self-DNA. Upon stimulation with double-stranded DNA, cGAS is activated and translocates from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, guided by its N ...

Structural characterisation of outer membrane proteins from Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato by small-angle X-ray scattering [PDF]
Forming the interface between the bacterial cell and the host, the outer membrane of Borrelia is known to play a key role in pathogenicity. Although Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato are considered to be Gram-negative, their outer membrane is unique ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Crystallization of Enterovirus D68 3C protease v1
The development of effective broad-spectrum antivirals forms an important part of preparing for future pandemics. A cause for concern is the currently emerging pathogen Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) which primarily spreads through respiratory routes causing mostly mild to severe respiratory illness but, in severe cases, acute flaccid myelitis.
