Progestins stimulate the differentiation of 3T3-L1 preadipocytes

The Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1992
The effect of progesterone on the differentiation of the 3T3-L1 preadipocytes was investigated and compared with other sex steroids (estradiol and testosterone), with cortisol, with the synthetic progestin R5020 and with the progestin/glucocorticoid antagonist RU38486.

THE EFFECTS OF INTERFERON ON 3T3‐L1 CELL DIFFERENTIATION*

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1980
Mouse 3T3-L1 fibroblasts, after attaining confluence, slowly differentiate functionally and morphologically into adipose cells. This conversion, characterized by a great accumulation of lipids, mostly triglycerides, is hastened by added insulin. The cells are relatively sensitive to the antiviral action of mouse fibroblast interferon (IF).

Activin A inhibits differentiation of 3T3-L1 preadipocyte

Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 2005
We investigated the effect of activin A on differentiation of 3T3-L1 preadipocyte. Activin A suppressed the induction of terminal differentiation markers such as glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GPDH) activity, lipid accumulation, and the expression of adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (aP2) mRNA when the cells were treated with activin A ...

Interleukin 11 signaling in 3T3‐L1 adipocytes

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 2004
AbstractInterleukin 11 (IL‐11) is an anti‐inflammatory cytokine with receptors located on most cell types and tissues throughout the body. Its anti‐inflammatory properties are mediated through suppression of cytokine synthesis, in large part by prevention of NF‐κB activation. As adipose tissue synthesizes and secretes cytokines involved in establishing

Methotrexate enhances 3T3-L1 adipocytes hypertrophy

Cell Biology and Toxicology, 2013
Methotrexate (MTX) is broadly used in the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MeS) in patients with this condition is relatively high. Given the importance of adipose tissue in the development of obesity metabolic complications, this study aimed to investigate the effect of

Complete Membrane Fractionation of 3T3-L1 Adipocytes

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2016
Fractionation techniques can facilitate the isolation of intracellular organelles containing insulin-sensitive glucose transporter isoform 4 (GLUT4), which is mobilized from GLUT4 storage vesicles in fat and muscle cells in response to insulin. This protocol for the full membrane fractionation of 3T3-L1 adipocytes results in five distinct fractions.

Angiotensinogen gene expression in 3T3-L1 cells

American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology, 1989
It has previously been established that angiotensinogen mRNA is present in brown and white adipose tissue of the rat. To determine whether angiotensinogen gene expression is present in adipocytes as compared with other cell elements, we have examined angiotensinogen mRNA in 3T3-L1 cells.

Melatonin promotes differentiation of 3T3‐L1 fibroblasts

Journal of Pineal Research, 2011
Abstract:  Melatonin inhibits the genesis and growth of breast cancer by interfering at different levels in the estrogen‐signaling pathways. Melatonin inhibits aromatase activity and expression in human breast cancer cells, thus behaving as a selective estrogen enzyme modulator.

The Measurement of GLUT4 Translocation in 3T3-L1 Adipocytes

2009
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is one of the fastest growing threats to human health in westernised and developing countries and is associated with central obesity, atherosclerosis, dyslipidaemia, hyperinsulinaemia and hypertension. Insulin resistance, defined as a diminished response to ordinary levels of circulating insulin in one or more peripheral tissues ...

Cannabidiol promotes browning in 3T3-L1 adipocytes

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 2016
Recruitment of the brown-like phenotype in white adipocytes (browning) and activation of existing brown adipocytes are currently being investigated as a means to combat obesity. Thus, a wide variety of dietary agents that contribute to browning of white adipocytes have been identified.
