Twisted Intramolecular Charge Transfer in Protonated Amino Pyridine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
International audienceThe excited state properties of protonated ortho (2-), meta (3-) and para (4-) aminopyridine molecules have been investigated through UV photo fragmentation spectroscopy and excited state couple cluster CC2 calculations.

Abnormal Action Potentials Associated with the Shaker Complex Locus of Drosophila [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Intracellular recordings of action potentials were made from the cervical giant axon in Shaker (Sh) mutants and normal Drosophila. The mutants showed abnormally long delays in repolarization.

Rate-dependency of action potential duration and refractoriness in isolated myocytes from the rabbit AV node and atrium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
During atrial fibrillation, ventricular rate is determined by atrioventricular nodal (AVN) conduction, which in part is dependent upon the refractoriness of single AVN cells.

4-Aminopyridine inhibits the neuromuscular effects of nitric oxide and 8-Br-cGMP

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2003
The effects induced by nitric oxide (NO) in different tissues depend on direct and/or indirect interactions with K+ channels. The indirect interaction of NO is produced by activation of guanylyl cyclase which increases the intracellular cGMP.

The effects of hyperglycaemic hypoxia on rectification in rat dorsal root axons [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
1. Electrotonic responses to 150 ms current pulses were recorded from isolated rat dorsal roots incubated for at least 3 h with either normal (5 mM) or high (25 mM) D-glucose solutions, and with either normal (25 mM) or low (5 mM) bicarbonate ...

Chronic beta-adrenoceptor blockade and human atrial cell electrophysiology: evidence of pharmacological remodelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Objective: Chronic beta-adrenoceptor antagonist (β-blocker) treatment reduces the incidence of reversion to AF in patients, possibly via an adaptive myocardial response.

Reimagining o‐Carborane‐Based Fluorophores: Charge‐Transfer from Boron Substituents Triggers Aggregation‐ and Crystallization‐Induced Emission

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This work reports, for the first time, aggregation‐ or crystallization‐induced emission in boron‐substituted carboranes, which was driven by photoinduced charge‐transfer from fluorophore attached via boron vertices. The emission properties can be tuned by varying the substituents, expanding design strategies for luminescent materials.

Spatiotemporal Correlation of Epileptiform Activity and Gene Expression in vitro

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2021
Epileptiform activity alters gene expression in the central nervous system, a phenomenon that has been studied extensively in animal models. Here, we asked whether also in vitro models of seizures are in principle suitable to investigate changes in gene ...

HIV-Associated Cerebellar Dysfunction and Improvement with Aminopyridine Therapy: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurology, 2017
Apart from infectious causes and cerebellar dysfunction associated with acquired immune deficiency syndrome dementia or HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder, cerebellar dysfunction in HIV-positive individuals has been ascribed to granule cell ...
