Effect of Shogaol on the Expression of Intestinal Stem Cell Markers in Experimentally Induced Colitis in BALB/c Mice

open access: yesAnalytical Cellular Pathology, 2019
Aim. This study is aimed at investigating the effect of Shogaol, a phenolic constituent of ginger, on dextran sodium sulfate- (DSS-) induced ulcerative colitis (UC) in mice in comparison with 6-thioguanine (6-TG), an immune-suppressant chemotherapeutic ...

Perforating dermatosis in a patient receiving azathioprine

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatology, 2013
Azathioprine (AZA) is an imidazole derivative of mercaptopurine. It antagonizes purine metabolism, and it may inhibit synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins.

The 6-thioguanine/5-methyl-2-pyrimidinone base pair

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1988
As part of a program to determine the physical possibility of expanding the number of types of base pairs in DNA, the pairing stabilities of the analog bases 6-thioguanine (GS) and 5-methyl-2-pyrimidinone (TH) in oligodeoxynucleotides were measured. Procedures were developed to synthesize oligodeoxynucleotides with the analog bases.

Additives for Aluminum‐Air Batteries: A Review

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 16, 17 March 2026.
The role of electrolyte additives in Al–air batteries is investigated by focusing on their capacity to moderate Al corrosion rates, inhibit self‐discharge, and prevent surface barrier formation. Additives present in organic, inorganic, and hybrid categories, which regulate the Al–electrolyte interface by forming protective films on the Al surface ...

Managing Ulcerative Colitis – The Guidelines and Beyond [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Medical Journal Gastroenterology, 2013
Management guidelines offer clinicians clear, evidence-based and often succinct treatment advice. For ulcerative colitis these guidelines describe the use of 5-ASA, corticosteroids, thiopurines, cyclosporine, and anti-TNFα therapies.

Assay of 6-thioguanine nucleotide, a major metabolite of azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine and 6-thioguanine, in human red blood cells

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1983
Abstract An assay for 6-thioguanine (6-TG) nucleotide, a major metabolite of the cytotoxic drugs azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine and 6-thioguanine in human red blood cells (RBCs) has been developed. The metabolite was not detected in RBCs when azathioprine or 6-mercaptopurine was incubated with whole blood in-vitro.

Hepatocarcinogens induce gene mutations in rats in fibroblast-like cells from a subcutaneous granulation tissue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Gene-mutations at the 6-thioguanine locus, in fibroblast locus, in fibroblast like-cells rapidly proliferating on the inside of rat subcutaneous air pouches were analysed (Granuloma Pouch Assay).

A New Electrochemical Sensor for Direct Detection of Purine Antimetabolites and DNA Degradation

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Methods in Chemistry, 2019
The development of a reliable electrochemical sensor using a hybrid nanocomposite consisting of ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate) functionalized graphene oxide (GrO-IL) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) stabilized by chitosan ...

Change in hematologic indices over time in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease treated with azathioprine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Azathioprine leads to changes in mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and white blood cell (WBC) indices reflecting efficacy or toxicity. Understanding the interactions between bone marrow stem cells and azathioprine could highlight abnormal response patterns ...

Single Cell Analysis of Human RAD18-Dependent DNA Post-Replication Repair by Alkaline Bromodeoxyuridine Comet Assay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Damage to DNA can block replication progression resulting in gaps in the newly synthesized DNA. Cells utilize a number of post-replication repair (PRR) mechanisms such as the RAD18 controlled translesion synthesis or template switching to overcome the ...
