Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Effect of orthokeratology on peripheral aberrations of the eye
Purpose: To investigate the effect of orthokeratology on peripheral aberrations in two myopic volunteers.\ud \ud Methods: The subjects wore reverse geometry orthokeratology lenses overnight and were monitored for 2 weeks of wear.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Purpose of the work: to evaluate the effect of combined use of bifocal soft contact lenses (BSCL) and the combined drug Midrimax (Phenylephrine 5.0%; Tropicamide 0.8%) on peripheral refraction and wavefront aberrations of the eye.

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Recent advances in representation of monochromatic aberrations of human eyes
The field of aberrations of the human eye is moving rapidly, being driven by the desire to monitor and optimise vision following refractive surgery. In this paper, I discuss the different ways of representing aberrations of the human eye, the terminology

Lineage-specific transcription factor aberrations in AML
Transcription factors play a key role in the commitment of hematopoietic stem cells to differentiate into specific lineages [78]. This is particularly important in that a block in terminal differentiation is the key contributing factor in acute leukemias.

Specifying peripheral aberrations in visual science [PDF]
Purpose: Investigations of foveal aberrations assume circular pupils. However, the pupil becomes increasingly elliptical with increase in visual field eccentricity. We address this and other issues concerning peripheral aberration specification.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
