Association of relative hand grip strength with myocardial infarction and angina pectoris in the Korean population: a large-scale cross-sectional study

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background Low hand grip strength (HGS) is associated with the risk of cardiovascular diseases, but the association between HGS and myocardial infarction/angina pectoris (MIAP) is unclear.

Association of Model-Predicted Epigenetic Age and Female Infertility

open access: yesEpigenomes
Background: To date, there are no precise clinical and laboratory methods to accurately predict the onset of fertility decline in women, with chronological age being the ultimate predictor.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Distances and ages of NGC 6397, NGC 6752 and 47 Tuc

open access: yes, 2003
Distances and absolute ages for the globular clusters NGC6397, NGC6752, and 47 Tuc are obtained using Main Sequence Fitting. Accurate reddenings and metal abundances (errors of 0.005 mag and 0.04 dex) are obtained by comparing B-V, b-y colours and UVES ...

Age estimation using carpals: study of a Slovenian sample to test Cameriere\u2019s method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Carpals are often used as age indicators. In a recent study, Cameriere et al. studied the use of the ratio between the total area of carpal bones and epiphyses of the ulna and radius (Bo) and carpals (Ca) as age indicators. The present study, of a sample

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Geology and Absolute Model Ages of the Rima Bode Region -a Candidate Future Lunar Landing Site

open access: yes, 2022
Introduction: ESA is currently exploring plans to utilize the European Large Lunar Lander (EL3) for science-driven missions that will allow us to bring about 1.5 tons of payload to the lunar surface. A first mission to a polar landing site is scheduled for 2029.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
