The Standard Deviation of Life-Length, Retirement Incentives, and Optimal Pension Design [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we consider how the retirement age as well as a tax financed pension system ought to respond to a change in the standard deviation of the length of life.

Brain Age Assessment of Patients with Major Depressive Disorder Based on Convolutional Neural Network

open access: yesChinese Journal of Magnetic Resonance
Brain age has become an important analysis object in the diagnosis and mechanism research of neurodegenerative diseases. There is no consistent conclusion on whether major depression increases the brain age of patients, and few studies in this direction ...

A uniform asteroseismic analysis of 22 solar-type stars observed by Kepler

open access: yes, 2012
Asteroseismology with the Kepler space telescope is providing not only an improved characterization of exoplanets and their host stars, but also a new window on stellar structure and evolution for the large sample of solar-type stars in the field.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

On the use of the main sequence knee (saddle) to measure globular cluster ages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we review the operational definition of the so-called main sequence knee (MS-knee), a feature in the color-magnitude diagram (CMD) occurring at the low-mass end of the MS.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

A practical tool for predicting outcomes in essential thrombocythemia: Triple A risk model and beyond

open access: yesBlood Advances
: The management of essential thrombocythemia (ET) relies on risk stratification; therefore, easily applicable risk scores with improved prognostic value are in demand.

Analysis of Scarp Profiles: Evaluation of Errors in Morphologic Dating [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Morphologic analysis of scarp degradation can be used quantitatively to determine relative ages of different scarps formed in cohesionless materials, under the same climatic conditions.
