Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Discovery of Newly Formed Broad Absorption Lines in a Radio-Loud Quasar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We report a serendipitous discovery of broad absorption lines that were newly formed in the spectrum of the high-redshift, luminous radio-loud quasar TEX 1726 + 344, in a time interval of only 12 years.

Nonlinear Absorptions

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 1993
Let \(A\) be an \(m\)-completely accretive operator in \(L^ 1(\Omega)\), where \((\Omega,{\mathcal B},\mu)\) is a \(\sigma\)-finite measure space. Let \(j: \Omega\times\mathbb{R}\to [0,\infty]\) be measurable in \(x\in\Omega\), convex and lower semicontinuous in \(r\in\mathbb{R}\), with \(j(x,0)=0\).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Study on CO2 Absorbent of DETA and TEA Mixed Amine Solution

open access: yes发电技术, 2022
In order to solve the problems of high regeneration energy consumption and poor recycling rate in the CO2 capture process of traditional absorbents, the research and development of new high-efficiency and low-energy-consumption solvents has become the ...

Multi-Channel Selective Femtosecond Coherent Control Based on Symmetry Properties

open access: yes, 2007
We present and implement a new scheme for extended multi-channel selective femtosecond coherent control based on symmetry properties of the excitation channels.

Incidence of HI 21-cm absorption in strong FeII systems at $0.5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present the results from our search for HI 21-cm absorption in a sample of 16 strong FeII systems ($W_{\rm r}$(MgII $\lambda2796$) $\ge1.0$ \AA\ and $W_{\rm r}$(FeII $\lambda2600$) or $W_{\rm FeII}$ $\ge1$ \AA) at $0 ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Far infrared absorption by acoustic phonons in titanium dioxide nanopowders

open access: yes, 2006
We report spectral features of far infrared electromagnetic radiation absorption in anatase TiO2 nanopowders which we attribute to absorption by acoustic phonon modes of nanoparticles.
