Consumption of Non-Nutritive Sweetener, Acesulfame Potassium Exacerbates Atherosclerosis through Dysregulation of Lipid Metabolism in ApoE-/- Mice. [PDF]

open access: yesNutrients, 2021
Obesity is associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease, and non-nutritive sweetener, such as acesulfame potassium (AceK) has been used to combat obesity. However, the effects of AceK on cardiovascular disease are still unclear. In this study, high

Lack of potential carcinogenicity for acesulfame potassium – Systematic evaluation and integration of mechanistic data into the totality of the evidence

open access: yesFood and Chemical Toxicology, 2020
The safety of low- and no-calorie sweeteners remains a topic of general interest. Substantial evidence exists demonstrating a lack of carcinogenicity of the no-calorie sweetener acesulfame potassium (Ace K). The objective of this evaluation was to conduct a systematic assessment of available mechanistic data using a framework that quantitatively ...

Development of a New Method for Determination of Sodium Saccharin and Acesulfame Potassium with the Aid of Coagulant

open access: yesShokuhin Eiseigaku Zasshi Journal of the Food Hygienic Society of Japan, 2015
An HPLC method for determination of sodium saccharin and acesulfame potassium was newly developed, employing coagulant pretreatment to remove particles dispersed in the sample extract. The method showed recovery of 96-101% for both analytes with a repeatability of less than 1% and a reproducibility of less than 2%.

Monitoring Population Exposure to Low- and No-Calorie Sweeteners via Pooled Urine Analysis. [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
The graphical abstract illustrates trends in low‐ and no‐calorie sweeteners exposure across the Australian population. It highlights differences between males and females across six age groups, as well as variation across five remoteness categories. An example biomarker, saccharin, is shown with concentrations plotted by age group, demonstrating how ...
