Clostridium sp. AWRP as a Non-Model Acetogenic Strain for Valorization of C1 Carbon Feedstocks: From Isolation to Genetic Modifications

open access: yes
Acetogenic bacteria are a group of microorganisms equipped with Wood-Ljungdahl pathway (WLP), through which acetyl-CoA is directly synthesized by ligation of two C1 compounds (i.e., CO and methyl group derived from CO2).

Systems Biology on Acetogenic Bacteria for Utilizing C1 Feedstocks

Advances in Biochemical Engineering/Biotechnology, 2022
With a presence of the Wood-Ljungdahl pathway, acetogenic bacteria are capable of converting C1 feedstocks into biomass and various metabolites, receiving industrial interest in microbial production of biochemicals derived from C1 substrates. To understand C1 feedstock fermentation using acetogenic bacteria, most of the studies have focused on ...

Acetogenic coccoid spore-forming bacteria isolated from the rumen

open access: yesResearch in Microbiology, 1996
Thirteen strains of a new acetogenic bacterium were isolated from the rumen contents of lambs, llamas and bisons. This paper is the first report of Gram-positive coccoid spore-forming bacteria occurring in chains and able to use H2 + CO2 as energy source and produce acetate from this gas mixture.

Decolorization of molasses wastewater by a strain No.BP103 of acetogenic bacteria

Bioresource Technology, 2004
Among 170 strains of acetogenic bacteria, a strain No.BP103 showed the highest decolorization yield (76.4+/-3.2%) when cultivated at 30 degrees C for 5 days in molasses pigments medium containing glucose 3.0%, yeast extract 0.5%, KH2PO4 0.1% and MgSO4 x 7H2O 0.05% and the pH adjusted to 6.0. In addition this strain could decolorize 32.3+/-3.2% and 73.5+
