Studies on Acetoin Fermentation

open access: yesJournal of the agricultural chemical society of Japan, 1953
l-Arabinose is the best carbon source in order to increase the yield of acetoin (acetylmethylcarbinol) by using B. natto, and d-glucose is the next. The highest yield of acetoin in this experiment was 562mg per 100cc of the medium, or 11.04% of consumed l-arabinose. On the other hand, the best nitrogen source is casein and the next is peptone. It seems

Acetolactate and Acetoin Synthesis in Ripening Peas [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1964
The role of acetolactate as a precursor in valine biosynthesis was first indicated by the isotopic studies of Strassman et al. (18) and was subsequently supported by work on valine-less mutants of Escherichia coli (21, 22) and Neurospora, crassa (24).

Dosage fluorimétrique de l'acétoïne dans le vin

open access: yesOENO One, 1994
Les auteurs proposent une technique analytique de dosage de l'acétoïne dans les vins après oxydation en diacétyle et condensation de ce dernier avec le diamineanisol-3,4. Le produit de condensation émet une forte fluorescence à partir de laquelle on peut

Metabolic interactions between dynamic bacterial subpopulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Individual microbial species are known to occupy distinct metabolic niches within multi-species communities. However, it has remained largely unclear whether metabolic specialization can similarly occur within a clonal bacterial population.

Green foxtail (Setaria viridis) resistance to acetolactate synthase inhibitors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002

Formation of α-hydroxycarbonyl and α-dicarbonyl compounds during degradation of monosaccharides

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2007
The formation of α-hydroxycarbonyl and α-dicarbonyl compounds from monosaccharides (glucose, fructose, arabinose, glyceraldehyde, and 1,3-dihydroxyacetone) was studied in three different model systems comprising an aqueous and alkaline solution of ...

Quantifying the metabolic capabilities of engineered using linear programming analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background The need for discovery of alternative, renewable, environmentally friendly energy sources and the development of cost-efficient, "clean" methods for their conversion into higher fuels becomes imperative. Ethanol, whose significance as fuel has

Acetaldehyde Disappearance and Acetoin Formation in vitro

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1949
SummaryIn agreement with previous in vivo studies, liver homogenate metabolized acetaldehyde more rapidly than other tissues and without the formation of much acetoin. Methylene blue stimulated the aerobic metabolism of acetaldehyde in rat liver but not dog liver.Skeletal muscle formed more acetoin from acetaldehyde than did brain or kidney.

Effect of different NADH oxidase levels on glucose metabolism by Lactococus lactis : kinetics of intracellular metabolite pools determined by in vivo nuclear magnetic resonance [PDF]

open access: yes
Three isogenic strains of Lactococcus lactis with different levels of H2O-forming NADH oxidase activity were used to study the effect of oxygen on glucose metabolism: the parent strain L.
