Acetyl-CoA steady-state levels were reduced in the TIGR4 spxB mutant.
TIGR4 capsule consists of several sugars that are acetylated, unlike the capsule of D39. Capsule units are abbreviated: Pyr (pyruvate); Gal (galactose); ManNAc (N-acetyl-mannosamine); FucNAc (N-acetyl-fucosamine); GalNAc (N-acetyl-galactosamine); GlcA ...

De novo synthesis and elongation of fatty acids by subcellular fractions of monkey aorta
Subcellular fractions of aorta of squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus) were examined for their ability to synthesize and elongate fatty acids. High-speed supernate (HSS) incorporated substantial quantities of malonyl CoA into fatty acids while acetyl CoA ...

Targeting Lactate and Lactylation in Cancer Metabolism and Immunotherapy
Lactate, once deemed a metabolic waste, emerges as a central regulator of cancer progression. This review elucidates how lactate and its epigenetic derivative, protein lactylation, orchestrate tumor metabolism, immune suppression, and therapeutic resistance.

Hepatocytes are subjected to increased membrane tension along with lipid accumulation. Loss of PIEZO1 exacerbates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. Activation of PIEZO1 alleviates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. PIEZO1 negatively regulates de novo lipogenesis through activation of CaMKK2‐AMPK pathway. ABSTRACT Liver is a central organ for lipid

The rocky roots of the acetyl-CoA pathway [PDF]
Abstract Geologists have suggested that life might have emerged at hydrothermal vents, chemists have shown that metal sulphides such as FeS and NiS can catalyse biochemical reactions in the absence of proteins, and biologists have suggested that the acetyl-coenzyme-A (CoA) pathway of CO 2 fixation might be very ancient.

This study identifies an immunometabolic axis wherein SAM‐driven PRMT1 methylates LDHA, enhancing its activity. The resultant lactate induces STAT3 K709 lactylation, which stabilizes an active conformation to promote STAT3 phosphorylation and IL‐10 expression.
