THE REGULATION OF ACETYL-COENZYME-A CARBOXYLASE IN RAT LIVER

open access: yes, 1980
The rate of phosphorylation and inactivation of rat liver acetyl-CoA carboxylase is controlled by ATP concentration. Maximum phosphorylation of the enzyme is attained in the presence of 0.4 mM ATP. Higher concentrations of ATP inhibit phosphorylation and

Cooperation between BAT and WAT of rats in thermogenesis in response to cold, and the mechanism of glycogen accumulation in BAT during reacclimation

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2008
Rats were exposed to cold and then reacclimated at neutral temperature. Changes related to fatty acid and glucose metabolism in brown and white adipose tissues (BAT and WAT) and in muscle were then examined. Of the many proteins involved in the metabolic

Inhibition of Hepatic Acetyl Coenzyme A Carboxylase by Hypolipidemic Agents

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1969
Abstract The effects of two hypolipidemic agents, 2-methyl-2-[p-(1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-naphthyl)-phenoxy]propionate and ethyl 2-(p-chlorophenyl)-2-methylpropionate, on the activity of a highly purified preparation of acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase, obtained from chicken livers, were studied.

Antioxidant activity of rice plants sprayed with herbicides

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2016
Understanding the physiological defense behavior of plants subjected to herbicide application may help to identify products with higher or lower capacity to cause oxidative stress in crops.

The effect of glucose on cardiac AMP-activated protein kinase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) serves as an energy-sensing protein that is activated by a variety of metabolic stresses. Recent studies suggest that AMPK is also regulated by hormones and by nutrients such as glucose and fatty acids.

Studies on the primary structure of acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase

open access: yes, 1988
A $\lambda$gt11 cDNA library, constructed using enriched poly (A)+ RNA from lactating rat mammary glands, was initially screened with polyclonal antiserum to acetyl-CoA carboxylase. Three positive clones were identified.

The Metabolism of Coenzyme A and Its Derivatives Plays a Crucial Role in Diseases

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark
Coenzyme A (CoA) functions as a crucial carrier of acyl groups within cells, playing a fundamental role in regulating acyl transfer reactions and participating in cellular metabolic processes.

Emerging Therapeutic Targets and Experimental Drugs for the Treatment of NAFLD

open access: yesDiseases, 2018
The two main subsets of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) include: (1) nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL), the more common and non-progressive subtype; and (2) nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), the less common subtype, which has the potential to ...

Regulation of acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase. I. Purification and properties of two forms of acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase from rat liver.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1988
Acetyl-CoA carboxylase of animal tissues is known to be dependent on citrate for its activity. The observation that dephosphorylation abolishes its citrate dependence (Thampy, K. G., and Wakil, S. J. (1985) J. Biol. Chem. 260, 6318-6323) suggested that the citrate-independent form might exist in vivo.
