Crystal structure of fatty acid thioesterase A bound by 129 fragments provides diverse development opportunities

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 1, Page 151-168, January 2026.
Crystallographic fragment screening of A. thaliana FatA yielded 141 hits and along with orthogonal assays, this enables the target for rapid development of novel chemical matter to the currently available herbicides. Abstract BACKGROUND In order to alleviate the growing issue of herbicide resistance, diversification of the herbicide portfolio is ...

Flavonoids as Anxiolytics in Animal Tests: Systematic Review, Meta‐Analysis, and Bibliometrical Analysis

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 1, Page 77-99, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Flavonoids are natural secondary metabolites of plants with a basic composition derived from polyphenols that can produce a plethora of different neurophysiological effects, some of which are relevant to anxiety disorders. As such, many flavonoids have been evaluated in behavioral screens in preclinical research on anxiolytics.

Potential 14‐3‐3 binding sites in sirtuins reveal extended phosphosite‐recognition modes

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section F, Volume 82, Issue 1, Page 32-40, January 2026.
Identification, binding measurements and structure determination of human sirtuin phosphopeptides in complex with human adapter protein 14‐3‐3σ reveal variations among tight binders and suggest extended binding modes. The adapter proteins of the 14‐3‐3 family modulate the activity and/or localization of their binding partners, which they capture if a ...

A Cytochrome c‐Containing Periplasmic Nitrate Reductase in the Acetogen Sporomusa ovata

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 1, January 2026.
Sporomusa ovata, a cytochrome‐containing, acetogenic bacterium, conserves energy by reduction of carbon dioxide to acetate. Nitrate serves as additional electron acceptor and is reduced to ammonium, resulting in increased growth and reduced acetate production.
