HDAC6 is a bruchpilot deacetylase that facilitates neurotransmitter release [PDF]
Presynaptic densities are specialized structures involved in synaptic vesicle tethering and neurotransmission; however, the mechanisms regulating their function remain understudied.

ZNF469 regulates the expression of genes encoding extracellular matrix proteins. Endogenous ZNF469 is predominantly cytoplasmic, while in transfected cells, it forms aggregates reminiscent of biomolecular condensates, located mainly in the nucleus. These condensates exhibit overlapping staining with proteasomes and are also associated with the mitotic ...

Matrix: a complex amalgam of structures and functions in tumor microenvironment
The matrix is a dynamic, intricate three‐dimensional mesh of biomolecules with both structural and functional properties. This review deals with the complexity of this ‘molecular amalgam’ in the tumor microenvironment and highlights its importance in the maintenance and evolution of tumors by describing certain matrix biomolecules, such as ...

Epigenetic Chromatin Silencing: Bistability and Front Propagation
The role of post-translational modification of histones in eukaryotic gene regulation is well recognized. Epigenetic silencing of genes via heritable chromatin modifications plays a major role in cell fate specification in higher organisms.

Identification of N-terminal protein acetylation and arginine methylation of the voltage-gated sodium channel in end-stage heart failure human heart [PDF]
The α subunit of the cardiac voltage-gated sodium channel, Naᵥ1.5, provides the rapid sodium inward current that initiates cardiomyocyte action potentials.

Caloric restriction that extends lifespan induces the expression of PGC‐1α and MIPEP in white adipose tissue. In this study, co‐overexpression of Pgc‐1α and Mipep upregulated the gene expression of PHOSPHO1. These findings provide new insights into mitochondria‐related mechanisms underlying the effects of caloric restriction in adipocytes.

Histone Deacetylase 6 Brain PET in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis‐Frontotemporal Spectrum Disorder
ABSTRACT Objective [18F]EKZ‐001 is a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer targeting histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6), an enzyme responsible for intracellular transport and clearance of misfolded proteins. HDAC6 modulation is a promising treatment strategy in neurodegenerative disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Acetyl Content of Marinobufagin, Arenobufagin and Acetyl-marinobufagin [PDF]
FOR marinobufagin, first isolated by Abel and Maeht1 from Bufo marinus and afterwards by Deulofeu and Mendive2 from B. paracnemis, Slotta and Neisser3 suggested the formula C27H38O6, at variance with C24H32O5 accepted by Jensen in many of his papers. They supposed that mar inobuf agin could contain one propionyl group.

Acetylation Disfavors Tau Phase Separation
Neuropathological aggregates of the intrinsically disordered microtubule-associated protein Tau are hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease, with decades of research devoted to studying the protein’s aggregation properties both in vitro and in vivo.

PBRM1 acts as a p53 lysine-acetylation reader to suppress renal tumor growth. [PDF]
p53 acetylation is indispensable for its transcriptional activity and tumor suppressive function. However, the identity of reader protein(s) for p53 acetylation remains elusive. PBRM1, the second most highly mutated tumor suppressor gene in kidney cancer,
