Diallyl Trisulfide From Garlic Regulates RAB18 Phase Separation to Inhibit Lipophagy and Induce Cuproptosis in Hepatic Stellate Cells for Antifibrotic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Diallyl trisulfides (DATs) selectively induce cuproptosis in hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) by targeting Ras‐related protein Rab‐18 (RAB18) and regulating lipophagy. DATs promote RAB18 phase separation, enhance mitochondrial‐associated membrane structures (MAMs) formation, and increase succinylation of dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase (DLD) at K320.

Malignant progression of liver cancer progenitors requires lysine acetyltransferase 7–acetylated and cytoplasm‐translocated G protein GαS

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
KAT7‐acetylated and cytoplasm‐translocated G‐protein GαS enhances IL‐6 effect and drives HCC progenitor cell progression. Abstract Background and Aims Hepatocarcinogenesis goes through HCC progenitor cells (HcPCs) to fully established HCC, and the mechanisms driving the development of HcPCs are still largely unknown.

Regiospecific Acetylation of Xylan is Mediated by a Group of DUF231-Containing O-Acetyltransferases

open access: yesPlant and Cell Physiology, 2017
Xylan is a major hemicellulose in the secondary walls of vessels and fibers, and its acetylation is essential for normal secondary wall assembly and properties.

Confined Migration Drives Stem Cell Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human mesenchymal stem cell (hMSC) homing to sites of regeneration requires navigation through mechanically confining extracellular matrix environments, inducing rapid and dramatic morphological adaptation. By exposing hMSCs to specific levels of physiological confinement, it is demonstrated that confinement can induce osteogenesis, and that this fate ...

O-GlcNAcase:promiscuous hexosaminidase or key regulator of O-GlcNAc signalling? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
O-GlcNAc signaling is regulated by an opposing pair of enzymes: O-GlcNAc transferase installs and O-GlcNAcase (OGA) removes the modification from proteins.

Gcn5: The quintessential histone acetyltransferase

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Regulatory Mechanisms, 2021
In this Special Issue, we bring together many of the original researchers involved in the initial studies to identify and characterize Gcn5, together with leaders from the field who have contributed to our understanding of this quintessential histone acetyltransferase.

Exploring the Complexity of Protein-Level Dosage Compensation that Fine-Tunes Stoichiometry of Multiprotein Complexes.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2020
Proper control of gene expression levels upon various perturbations is a fundamental aspect of cellular robustness. Protein-level dosage compensation is one mechanism buffering perturbations to stoichiometry of multiprotein complexes through accelerated ...

Functional antagonism between Sas3 and Gcn5 acetyltransferases and ISWI chromatin remodelers. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2012
Chromatin-modifying enzymes and ATP-dependent remodeling complexes have been intensely studied individually, yet how these activities are coordinated to ensure essential cell functions such as transcription, replication, and repair of damage is not well ...

Targeting PTBP3‐Mediated Alternative Splicing of COX11 Induces Cuproptosis for Inhibiting Gastric Cancer Peritoneal Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The splicing factor PTBP3 promotes COX11 exon skipping, allowing gastric cancer organoids to evade cuproptosis. Antisense oligonucleotide drugs targeting PTBP3‐mediated COX11 alternative splicing, in combination with copper ionophores, promote cuproptosis in organoids, thereby providing a therapeutic approach for gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis ...

Variation at the capsule locus, cps, of mistyped and non-typable Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The capsule polysaccharide locus (cps) is the site of the capsule biosynthesis gene cluster in encapsulated Streptococcus pneumoniae. A set of pneumococcal samples and non-pneumococcal streptococci from Denmark, the Gambia, the Netherlands, Thailand, the
