Topography and connections of the telencephalon in a chondrostean, Acipenser baeri: An experimental study

Journal of Comparative Neurology, 2006
AbstractSturgeons belong to an ancient group of the extant actinopterygian fishes. Accordingly, the study of their brain connections is important to understand brain evolution in the line leading to teleosts. We examined the topography and connections of the various telencephalic regions of the Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri).

Biochemical characterization of Siberian sturgeon Acipenser baeri and sterlet Acipenser ruthenus milt plasma and spermatozoa

Fish Physiology and Biochemistry, 2002
This paper provides data concerning biochemical composition of milt of two sturgeon species, Siberian sturgeon bred in aquaculture facility of Inland Fisheries Institute in North Poland and sterlet (from two different populations from Danube and Odra). Milt plasma of Siberian sturgeon and sterlet, when compared to teleost fish, is characterized by much

Immunohistochemical Distribution of Cytochrome P4501A in Larvae and Fingerlings of the Siberian Sturgeon, Acipenser baeri

The Histochemical Journal, 2001
In this paper we investigate by means of immunohistochemistry, the tissue distribution of constitutive cytochrome P4501A (CYPIA), from hatching until 30 days posthatching in developing Siberian sturgeon, Acipenser baeri. For this purpose, a polyclonal (BN-1) antiserum developed against a conservative sequence of piscine CYP1A and a monoclonal (C10-7 ...

Disposition of genistein in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri)

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 2007
Genistein (G) is a xenoestrogen from soy present in fish diet. In vivo, a 50-fold difference in sensitivity to genistein on vitellogenin (VTG) synthesis was found when comparing trout and sturgeon. This difference was not linked to the estrogen receptor affinity nor to the sensitivity of induction of the VTG pathway. The study was performed to check if

Distribution of galanin‐like immunoreactivity in the brain of the Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri)

Journal of Comparative Neurology, 2005
AbstractGalanin is a 29‐amino acid peptide widely distributed in the central nervous system of vertebrates. The organization of galaninergic systems is well known in teleosts, the most advanced actinopterygians, but no data are available on primitive bony fish.

Alimentation artificielle de l'esturgeon Acipenser baeri

1979

Acute toxicity of ammonia to Siberian sturgeon Acipenser baeri

1991
Median lethal concentrations (LC50) of ammonia were determined for Siberian sturgeon (A.baeri) in static tests. The respective 24 h NH3 LC50 for different weight groups - 60 mg, 10 to 270 g and 450 g - were 1 mg/l, 1,7 mg/l and 2,5 mg/l. Sturgeon are more resistant than rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).

Ovarian development and cycles in cultured Siberian sturgeon, Acipenser baeri

1998
