Autophagy is critical to acrosome biogenesis and mitochondrial quality control, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. The ubiquitin ligase Nrdp1/RNF41 promotes ubiquitination of the mitophagy-associated Parkin and interacts with the pro ...

An Overview of The Globozoospermia as A Multigenic Identified Syndrome [PDF]
Acrosome plays an integral role during fertilization and its absence in individuals with globozoospermia leads to failure of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and oocyte activation post-intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

Ubiquitination Regulates the Morphogenesis and Function of Sperm Organelles
It is now understood that protein ubiquitination has diverse cellular functions in eukaryotes. The molecular mechanism and physiological significance of ubiquitin-mediated processes have been extensively studied in yeast, Drosophila and mammalian somatic

A mechanism for differential release of acrosomal enzymes during the acrosome reaction [PDF]
To study the organization of fertilization enzymes in the sperm acrosome, we isolated and characterized two physicochemically distinct acrosomal fractions of guinea-pig spermatozoa. A soluble fraction contained the 25,000-Mr acrosomal autoantigen, AA1, and most of the acrosomal hyaluronidase and dipeptidyl peptidase II activity. A particulate fraction,

SEQUENTIAL RELEASE OF ACROSOMAL MEMBRANES AND ACROSOMAL ENZYMES OF RAM SPERMATOZOA [PDF]
Summary. A method involving the treatment of ram spermatozoa with MgCl2 followed by Hyamine 2389 and Triton X-100 is described, which gave selective removal of the acrosomal membranes and acrosomal enzymes. The effect on the individual membranes of ram spermatozoa was evaluated by electron microscopy.

Mammalian sperm acrosome contains several glycohydrolases thought to aid in the dispersion and digestion of vestments surrounding the egg. In this study, we have used multiple approaches to examine the origin of acrosome-associated glycohdyrdolases ...
