Actin depolymerizing factor controls actin turnover and gliding motility inToxoplasma gondii

Apicomplexan parasites rely on actin-based gliding motility to move across the substratum, cross biological barriers, and invade their host cells. Gliding motility depends on polymerization of parasite actin filaments, yet ∼98% of actin is nonfilamentous in resting parasites.

Transient Cytoskeletal Anisotropy Encodes Short‐Term Mechanical Memory in Glioblastoma Cells

The same mechanical deformation can produce distinct cytoskeletal states depending on loading history. Experiments and constitutive modeling reveal that transient actin–vimentin anisotropy stores mechanical information and governs short‐term mechanical memory in glioblastoma cells.

A Wireless 3D Magneto‐Mechanical Stimulation Platform Drives In Situ Chondrogenic Commitment of Endogenous MSCs

An intracellular magneto‐mechanical platform utilizing MSC‐targeted nanomotors is developed. After intra‐articular delivery, these nanomotors target endogenous BMSCs and are actuated within lysosomes to execute trans‐planar rotational‐bouncing motions under a rotating‐fluctuating 3D magnetic field, generating amplified mechanical stimulation.

Synergy between Actin Depolymerizing Factor/Cofilin and Profilin in Increasing Actin Filament Turnover [PDF]

The mechanism of control of the steady state of actin assembly by actin depolymerizing factor (ADF)/cofilin and profilin has been investigated. Using Tbeta4 as an indicator of the concentration of ATP-G-actin, we show that ADF increases the concentration of ATP-G-actin at steady state.
